Fantasmic! 1/26

Not really. I still don't see how they are different.

If Soarin' were your favorite ride and you knew you had to stand in line for 90 min for it (because FPs were gone), you wouldn't stress about that, right? You'd put it in your schedule, plan for it, have stuff to keep the kids occupied, get a snack ahead of time, etc. It would just be something you were willing to do because you want to ride the ride. And you'd also have your limit -- "I'll wait for 90 min, but not 120 min." If you got to Soarin' and the wait was 100 min, you wouldn't ride.

Why is the same not true of Fant!? You know that you'll need to be in line for X min to get a seat for Fant! To be guaranteed a seat, you know that 90 min or 2 hours is the norm. So, you put it in your schedule, plan for it, have stuff to keep the kids occupied, get a snack ahead of time, etc. It's something you're willing to do because you want to see the show. And you would also have your limit here -- I'll wait for 90 min, but not 120." If you're being told that 2 hours is the normal wait for a guaranteed seat, and you don't want to wait that amount of time, then you don't see the show.

The difference between the two is that if you decide 40 min out to try Fant! and see if there's space available, it's possible that you MIGHT get in. If you decide to wait in the Soarin' line for only 40 min on the off chance that the line goes super-fast and you'll get to ride after only 40 min instead of 90, there's pretty much NO possibility that you will.

But it's still your choice. You know what you have to do to ride the ride or see the showl it's just a decision as to whether or not you want to. So I don't get the stress level.

I don't really think that hoping for smaller crowd's is stressing. We go to Disney every 2-3 years, not every year. If we would want it to be less crowded so we could get more things done, does that mean we are stressing?

I don't recall ever reading someone say, "Boy, I hope it is crowded..."

I just want to fulfill my families vacation dreams. After losing 2 family members last year, we are celebrating family. Less crowds would help make that celebration better, but I am not stressing about it. BECAUSE-we will be in DISNEY WORLD!:cool1:

Sorry ... your initial post said:

We are stressing about going to HS with the crowds of other people but our ADR's have been made for awhile and I think it is too close to change.

I am hoping, praying that they will have either another showing that night or another showing somethime in the week that we are there.

"Stressing" was your word, not mine. And "hoping, praying" seemed to indicate that you were really really worried about it. If I got that wrong, I apologize.

We were there on 1/26 and most of the crowds attended the first showing @ 7:00 p.m. The 8:30 showing was full, but did not sell-out. There were 2 sections, both far left and far right that were not available for seating but I suspect they would have been opened if the crowds were heavier. By attending the 2nd showing we were able to go to Toy Story Mania at 7:00 with a 20 minute wait - which was great. The park was very crowded and during the day TSM was a 90 minute wait. American Idol was also open on 1/26 but all the show times conflicted with other shows we wanted to see, so we didn't get to see it. We could have gone to the AI "finale" at 7:00 pm but opted to go to TSM instead. The AI theater looked really neat! I hope for the rest of you that Disney offers 2 shows of Fantasmic on all future days it is shown. We also ducked out right at the end (we missed the finale) but were first in line for the bus, so we made our ADR.

Your right, those were my words! I am worried, stressed or whatever. BUT, I know it will all be alright because once we get there, I usually don't pay much attention to the crowds. I apologize too.

I'm sorry, but I have NEVER waited more than 10 minutes for any ride. If you tour properly, collect fast passes, etc. You don't have to wait for rides. We skipped Fantasmic even before they made it 2 shows a day because I thought waiting 45 minutes was WAY too long. So we only did Wishes and Illuminations where we only got in a spot for 20 minutes, which still felt like forever. Yes, it is your choice but a lot of people like that show so they plan their vacations around it, so that is their stress. I saw it once and don't understand the attraction, but I can see why this affects people. I told my friend who is leaving tomorrow to avoid DHS AT ALL COSTS on Fantasmic Day.!!!

Christine

Never been to Diz World between Xmas and New Year's, I take it. You must wait for more than ten minutes to get a popcorn or pee at these times of year.

You've never waited more than 10 minutes? Wow, you should write the books on how it is done. This Xmas I waited over 20 minutes WITH A FP in the FP line for TSM.

I've been to Diz World in the range of 15 times or so in the past decade at all times of the year. Hey, I have to disagree with teh above poster. Fantasmic is fantastic. A true can't-be-missed ... a jaw-dropper for a first timer. You must do it, and you must stand in line a long time to ensure a seat. If DHS is terribly crowded on Fantasmic days, hit another park and hop over to DHS in time to stand in line.

1/26- We were at the turnstiles at the 90 minute mark and still got great seats. If you have hoppers, do what we did.

We were there for the second show on 12/30 and we walked up as it was starting. There were at least two sections opened on the far left. I would have been furious if we had waited and then all those seats were still available. It was an interesting show but nothing special. I think Festival of the Lion King or Illuminations are better. Perhaps if we'd been up front we would have been drawn in but otherwise it was just a parade on water.
