Always looking for good documentaries, right now we are watching:
Poisoned: America's Fentanyl Crisis & it is amazing.

Anyone watch? Have others to recommend?

I’m following because I love documentaries too and actually prefer them over fictional movies these days. I’ve been somewhat obsessed about watching anything about Elon Musk so I watched the Return to Space doc on Netflix recently and that was good.
Another one that was good was Our Father about a fertility doctor. I’ve seen so many others but can’t think of ones that stand out right now.

These are all on Netflix
Bob Ross: Happy Accidents, Betrayal, and Greed
My Octopus Teacher
Murder Among The Mormons
Crime Scene: The Vanishing At The Cecil Hotel
Night Stalker: The Hunt For A Serial Killer
The Speed Cubers
Evil Genius

Discovery+
Lily Topples The World

Anything by Ken Burns on PBS-TV. His most recent one on Ben Franklin was fascinating. My favorite docu-series of his is The National Parks.

Ken's brother, Ric Burns, also did a great docu-series on New York City years ago.

"Murder Among The Mormons" was really good and quite crazy (please note, it really does a good job of not judging mormonism, just the events that surrounded a specific situation)

I’ve been off work and dealing with medical issues so I’ve watched a lot of documentaries.

More Netflix
Perfect Bid
This A Robbery: The World’s Biggest Art Heist
Mercury 13
Fantastic Fungi
For The Love of Spock
Made You Look
The Adolf Eichmann Trial
Supermarket Heist
Mr Tornado

HBO Max
Beware The Slenderman

These are good documentaries but they require trigger warnings IMO

Netflix
Don’t F* With Cats- animal abuse/serial killer
A Lion In The House- childhood cancer
Bully- about bullied children

Amazon Prime
Rewind- child sexual abuse

I forgot “When We Were Bullies” on HBO max. It documents adults looking back on a grade school bullying situation from the bullies point of view and what they remember of it now.

A documentary on Netflix called "Zion."

It is about the true story of a young man born without legs who overcame every obstacle in his life beyond just the physical to make the varsity wrestling team for Massillon Washington High (Home of the great Paul Brown) in Northeast Ohio. This location is 15 minutes from the Pro Football HOF,and the inspiration he became to so many around him in this community. I live in this community and had the opportunity to meet this young man and talk with him. What an inspiration.

The World At War (can't find on streaming, probably have to check out from your library, but the definitive documentary on WWII)
The First World War (Amazon Prime)
The Other One: The Long Strange Trip of Bob Weir (Netflix)
The History Of The Eagles (another one not on streaming, but worth visiting your library)
The Mine Wars (ditto)
Ken Burns The Civil War (PBS)
Ken Burns Baseball (PBS)
Ken Burns Benjamin Franklin
If you're into sports, there are a number of 30 for 30 documentaries that are really good. Some are available on Disney+, some on ESPN+ and they rerun some on ESPN from time to time. Some of my favorites:
Broke
The U
The Two Escobars
Pony Excess
You Don't Know Bo
Celtics/Lakers: Best of Enemies.
Even if you don't like sports, Broke is an excellent look at how entertainers make a lot of money and often lose it all.

Lily Topples the World was wonderful! Highly recommended. Glad you mentioned it.

Another sports doc is Screwball. It has a unique way of presenting steroid use in MLB.

I watched one on Prime (not sure if all movies are the same in the US) called Goodnight Sugar Babe. It's about the death of a mentally challenged woman and the cover up involved after. All involved are low income, and low education, and it's the most bleak and just heartwrenching documentary I've ever watched (and I've seen Dear Zachary).

It's a very low budget doc so some scenes are disjointed and not professional at all, but the story still needs to be told.

Love the 30 for 30 series and I would add Survive and Advance to that list about Jimmy V. Probably my all time favorite.

Also if you’re a sports fan (or Michael Jordan fan), The Last Dance on Netflix is excellent.
