I know I'm going back a few years with the topic of this thread, but who still takes, and wears, fanny packs in the parks? I mean, you have to have somewhere to put your change, wallet and other things so they don't fall out of your pockets. I took one the few times I went to Disney World and, while I wouldn't wear one, and don't wear one, on a daily basis, I loved wearing it in the parks because I didn't have to worry about my change or anything because I knew where everything was, not to mention not having to worry about anything falling out while on rides. So, who's willing to admit they still do this? Ok, this thread is more for finding out what people do today than anything.

Yes......sometimes. We still have 2 Disney fanny packs that we take with us when we go however we don't always use them. My wife hates to carry a purse in the parks and I don't blame her. It often becomes the catch all and she lugs everyone's stuff around. She's since used smaller hand bags that she can wear cross shoulder. Its usually just enough to carry her asthma meds, cash/cards, etc. If I want or need to carry anything additional, she tells me to wear a fanny pack.....then I quickly realize I don't really need it that bad.

Always! I despise crossbody bags. I started years ago because it was the most convenient way to carry my son's GAC. Now it holds my phone, credit cards, and everyone's sunglasses on rides.

When I took my adult DD to Disney a few years ago she frowned on my fanny pack. She said people just don't use them anymore! She said a cross-body bag is what people use, so I bought one and I did pay attention when in the parks and didn't see very many fanny packs so I guess she was right. And I used the cross-body bag when our families all went together to Disney again two years ago, and saw even less fanny packs then than I did the trip before.

But! If we were going again I would wear my fanny pack and not give a hoot what anyone thought. The cross-body bag was okay, but I think the fanny pack is still easier. :)

I see lots of fanny packs every trip!

I wouldn't be caught dead with a fanny pack.

Nope, nope, nope.

I recently bought a Stitch crossbody bag for our upcoming trip and while it won't hold everything, it's enough for me. I'm just hoping it doesn't rain, cause I'm sure we won't have enough space for a poncho!

I've seen a few fannypacks in the parks, though we retired ours years ago. I carry a purse or backpack and DH carries a small backpack. I don't like cross body bags, they always fit weird across my chest.

I love fanny packs for park touring. I have trouble with my neck and shoulders, so having a bag over my shoulder(s) all day is literally a pain in the neck. My hips are tougher. Besides, DD18 tells me they're selling fanny packs at Forever 21 these days so they must be sort of semi-acceptable again.

My 70 year old mother in law uses one...she's the only person I've seen wear one in years.

On a recent amusement park trip I used a running pack ---fancy name for a fanny pack but very slim and fit under my shirt I was wearing...just held money, credit card and phone. No room for anything else. I'd never wear a big fanny pack or crocs BUT know that is what some people do for comfort. It's vacation and I wouldn't worry about it. Last Disney trip first trip without a purse...made hubby and sons carry my stuff in their cargo shorts pockets since I'd been the pack mule for years!

I never even thought of a cross-body bag. That'll be something I can look into, and if it's small enough it'll force us to limit what we can carry. I love my wife dearly, but she'll want to carry a backpack full of stuff for our 4 y/o.

I never wore a fanny pack anywhere but Disney World...wait, I take that back. Sunday mornings while doing laundry at the laundromat. It was a great way to hold $10 in quarters.

I wouldn't care what people thought of me while in the parks, just as long as any pictures of me do not show me wearing the fanny pack I'll be fine.

That's good to know. I'd hate to be the only one down there wearing one.

Now that's an idea. I'll have to look into getting one of those. Although, I will have a 4 y/o, so I'll need to carry some snacks...so maybe a cross body bag. Still...that's an idea.

DW told me years ago "If you ever see me even thinking of wearing a fanny pack just shoot me.":rotfl: I've never had one, but I guess if you really need something it's no big deal to wear one at WDW. DW carries a purse, and I wear cargo shorts that'll hold my stuff --which is only wallet, sunscreen & phone. I would encourage anyone going to WDW to carry as little as possible to the parks, it's a much better experience. Having said that, if you have small kids, you pretty much are going to have to carry supplies.

I bought the best bag for my next trip. I've been carrying a Healthy Back Bag for years because you can move it to a bunch of different positions (crossbody, one shoulder, front, back, etc.), it is ultra light, and I don't get tired of carrying it. For my next trip, I got a smaller size of the bag (https://www.ameribag.com/6120LG-CC.html) that can also be worn around the waist like a fanny pack. I can't wait to try it out in the real world (well...the real LAND...this is a CA trip).

And that's just it, we'll need supplies.

I have worn one but only when we go to theme parks. It makes life much easier. I don't want to wear a purse or a cross body bag. I don't want something hanging around my neck and banging on my hips or butt. I would much rather have something around my waist that I don't have to worry about and it's right there. Mine is small and i only carry my cash, change and cards in it - maybe some gum or chapstick.

When I went to DL last year I saw a lot of young girls with fanny packs. I was stunned and sent a text to my sister that she actually could be on the verge of "cool."

I know! :faint: Wouldn't have believed it either if I didn't see it with my own eyes.
