Fanny Packs?

My lady always wears her DL 2008 backpack when we go but she has been asking me if it will be crazy to wear a fannypack. I tell her that although they have their practical uses it simply is not the 1980s anymore. Also, once you hit 30 it just seems like you should know better! j/k

No one in my family carries bags but it's for a different reason: so we don't get stuck in those LONG security lines. We get a lanyard and a wallet with a keychain on it. Attach the two and voila! It holds our cash, tickets, and any cards we need. Pockets hold chap stick and cellphones (although I don't usually carry my cell on vacation). We stay on site so it's close enough to drop by to pick up/drop off things as we need. But- we also don't travel with small children so it's easy for us.

We used to, but now I just carry around too much crap to fit in a fanny pack. We would only bring the one fanny pack though, and trade off on who wore it. So taking 3 bottles of water, camera ect... was pretty hard in ONE pack. LOL So now we just chug the backpack around. It isn't a huge one though, and we take turns wearing it.

I wirk at Kaiser too! In Richmond, pharmacy!!

ScrapperKimmyD- are you a nurse in NICU? I am in nursing school (graduating next May, and I am hoping for NICU, or L&D.

Yes! I love working with those little ones! Only 1 more year to go - that's great! I would have liked to get in L&D, too, but NICU is what opened up for me. I did a little post partum, too, but NICU is my true love. I've been there for about 12 years now and can't imagine doing any other hospital nursing job.

DH always carries the back pack for us. I was trying to figure out if we could skip it since I read the great tip to just bring packs of flavor for a bottle of water. But then we wouldn't have a place to put snacks. So, DH will carry the backpack and I'll have a waist pack. Oh, wait. It's not a waist pack. It's a camera bag that I can wear around my waist. :)

I'm with the people that don't care what people think. I get severe migraines and I wear my fanny/waist pack, I wear crocs with (god forbid) socks, and I wear a sun visor. I probably look like the biggest hick that got off the boat and in fact when I was at Disneyland last time one of the cast members said she didn't think I looked like I was from CA. I am sure I looked like I was from back woods Arkansas or something. But I don't give a rip. I pay a LOT of money for my trips and I am NOT going to let them be ruined by a bad migraine and whatever it takes for me to be comfy and NOT get sick I will do. So if I look like a geek whatever! I say do what it takes to be comfortable and to heck with the rest!

we wear ours. Backpacks can't go on rides with you, or you have to set them down at times. The fanny pack is attached to me and I will not lose what is in it. It can't be stolen. Things won't get stolen from inside it. Plus when we go on certain rides I need my glasses (and dd's and dh's glasses too) to be safe - slipping them in the fanny pack is the best way to do that.

Well, whatever you decide to do, you will always look cool with a Dole Whip in hand! :cool1:

I bought my waist pack today! WOO! It's light pink and it's cute! Not real bulky and it fits a water bottle in it! I'm happy about it!

Thank you EVERYONE for your help!

I'm working on my pre-reqs for nursing school. My goal is to become a NICU nurse as well.

Dizneekrazee---do you post on allnurses.com?

As for fanny pack, no I don't wear one anymore. I choose to wear a camel bac backpack. I fill the bladder up with ice, then pour in water, add more ice, pour in more water, etc, until full. It also has room for snacks for my boys. The bouns to this is, it also kept my back cool last July. This was so nice to use, we always had cold water (when we ran out of water I went to a counter service @ Disneyland and got cups of ice water and did the same thing). It kept my back cool and it held our stuff. I will be doing this again.

For my girls only trip next weekend, I will wear a small fanny pack to carry my tickets, money, camera (valuables) and I will wear a sling pack for my water, snacks, hand sanitizer, etc.

I'll do the same for our family trip next month and have my girls wear their sling packs for their own things. My ds, the youngest, probably won't wear anything. I or dh will carry his water, snacks and money for him.

This way, if we accidently leave one of our sling packs on a ride, at least there won't be anything real valuable in them.
