Just wanted to share my latest find.....we are going to Disney in a few days - YAY! and I have had a heck of a time finding fanny packs to fit my 3 and 4 yr. olds. I couldn't find little ones anywhere - Target, Walmart, Toys R Us, T.J.Maxx, etc. etc. I have been looking for about 3 months now. I almost ordered them online - had heard that the FisherPrice kid packs with water bottles were perfect - but could never find them sold separately - they were always in a set with a backpack and a lunchbox. I had given up and decided that they could live without 'em. Well, yesterday I walked into Staples and found fanny packs for small children - Winnie-the-Pooh, no less!!!! I didn't realize that Staples carried luggage or travel gear. I am going to have the kids put in their packs: a mini flash lite, ear plugs, sunglasses, maybe a fruit snack or treat, a small thing of bubbles (like the wedding bubbles) and an ID card that I am making with information (in case they get lost) such as name, where we are staying, phone, etc. They won't carry their water bottles with their packs or autograph books, but that's okay - I think I can handle that!! They are so little I don't want them to be overloaded, but I want them to be able to have their "things" on hand.

Good idea, mine our 4 and 5 and we went last year they were always taking their sunglases on and off and asking me to put them in my fanny pack. I think I will head to Staples for our trip this year. I also like the information card idea. Thanks!

I recently purchased a smaller pack for 4 yo DS @ WalMart. They are in the accessories area with all the purses and backpacks. It was $2.96 & they came in lots of different colors with black trim. Could hold a few things that he wants to carry himself. but not a water bottle. HTH!

Wow, Staples? Who'd of thunk? :)

I've had trouble over the years finding fanny packs for my son (my daughter prefers to carry a small, child size backpack). Last year I was lucky enough to find a Buzz Lightyear one at the Disney Store and he really likes that one.

Before that he had a really great Bug's Life one that also had a water bottle holder. You'll never believe where I found it! In the bicycle section at Target!! It was actually meant to be strapped onto your bike, but it had the same type of clasp as a fanny pack and worked perfectly. And having the water bottle that he could actually carry was a godsend. The only problem is that is wasn't quite intended to get such heavy use and it only lasted us about a year and a half! So now, I always take a quick peek in the bicycle aisle just to see what I can find, you never know when you might get lucky!

I got the Fisher Price fanny pack for my 3 yo DD at a local discount store (Buck A Book). I wasn't sure what she would carry in it but I like the idea of the mini flashlight, bubbles, sunglasses and snacks. I think the water bottle will be too heavy for her to carry as well but giving her the freedom to bring along her own things is a big plus.

Anyone have any other ideas of what a small child can carry along to keep them entertained while waiting in lines? (I love the bubbles idea!!!)

Thanks,

ShirleyC

Totes has a selection of s,all fanny packs...

Also, I recently bought a combo-set which included a small carry-on suitcase with extendable handle and wheels, a small backpack, and a small fanny pack for my 4 year old... he loved pulling his suitcase right along side daddy.. and it was packed with his clothes...

The whole set was around $20.00 All in primary colors ( also came in pinkish pastels for girls) and it was made by Samsonite, I got it at ServiceMerchandise.

Good luck

Thank you for the heads up on Staples. We went NUTS trying to find a fanny pack for our very skinny seven year old son before our trip two weeks ago. We were never sucessful and we looked everywhere. We finally ended up buying him the smallest fanny pack we could find and figured we would shorten it somehow when we got there. Needless to say it ended up staying in the luggage. I will definitely check staples for the kid size one they have. We wanted the fanny pack so that he could put his FRS radio, sunglasses, ID card, and a snack in.

I will have to head to staples tommorrow, I would have never thought that they would carry kids fanny packs. I have been trying every were to find them. I did find a Everest mini fanny pack (comes in boys and girls colors) on ebay from a company that is only 3.95 plus shipping and handling with discounts for multiple orders. But with two kids that will run me about $14.45, was the deal at staples cheaper then that??
