We decide on a quiet day today, as tonight we are meeting up with the same people we did the Illuminations Cruise with last year to take the Wishes Cruise, Sherrie, Paul and their two children children Shaun 7 and Rhiannon 4, who we met up with through the Illuminations Cuise thread on the DIS, they are from New Jersey, they are a lovely family, and Sherrie and I e-mail each other several times a week, she has become a good friend
We sleep a little later today before heading off to the Marketplace for breakfast at Wolfgang Puck Express, stopping to take some piccies of the Grandstand Pool and the Saratoga tree along the way.
We both get the Denver Denver omellette which basically has everything in it served with scrummy breakfast potatoes, and washed down with lots of strong coffee, this is the first of many visits as we both love it here.
Now as we are going to be spending some time with small children it is time for some gift shopping, we had read about the Build Your Own LightSabre on the DIS and we had a great half an hour doing this for Shaun, Ian was like out of my way small child its my turn to have a go
it was good fun doing this and we ended up with a mighty lightsabre for him, we got a Princess teaset for Rhiannon as I liked teasets when I was little and hoped that small girls still do !! Ian gets the Kaiser Chiefs CD from Virgin and after a long hunt for some wrapping paper - its Christmas and we couldn't find wrapping paper
, we eventually find a small packet tucked away in the Christmas Shoppe. Of course the Christmas Shop is right by the Margarita Bar and it would be rude to pass by, so we stop and have our usual, Margarita and Rum Runner, and spend an hour watching the world go by. I will post the menu again for those that missed it last time
and the Market Place tree ..
As we are meeting up with Sherrie and Paul for dinner we head back to Saratoga for a quick wash and change. We are eating at the Turf Club and on the way to meet them we bump into them having a wander around Saratoga, they want a nosy at our room so we head back to exchange gifts, the children seemed really pleased and Rhiannon wouldn't put hers down the box was nearly as big as her. They bring us some lovely South African wine. We head off to the Turf Club, where Paul and I get the bacon cheeseburger, Sherrie has tuna and Ian goes for the Shrimp n Pasta, the food is good at best, I won't rush back, Ians pasta has a nice tast but is luke warm, and we both have a real thing against luke warm food, still you live and learn. We have a lovely chat over dinner and it is great to catch up.
We jump on the bus and head for the Poly where the cruise is leaving from and head for the boat dock, where our boat awaits. The captain informs us that he has left blankets on the seats for us which sounds ominous, he takes us on a tour of Bay Lake and we are all so grateful for the blankets, it was absolutely freezing
He shares some interesting info about the monorail hotels and then lets the big one slip "See that contruction there, thats the New Contemporary DVC", we all pounce for fuurther information and you can so tell he has dropped a blunder, I felt sorry for him .... he quickly changed the subject. Here is a piccie we took when we visited the Contemporary later in the trip.
We then head back to get into position for the fireworks, we paid extra to get the music piped in and are so glad we did, it was well worth it, personally we both enjoyed this more than the Illuminations Cruise, the view was breathtaking, it was amazing, we also stayed out on the lake to see the Electric Light Pageant (sp) !! One piece of advice if you plan to do this is December, please take a hat
Time to head back, and we sadly say our goodbyes, the little ones are flagging by now.
As we are in the Poly anyway we decide to head to the Tambu Lounge and we experience our first Lapu Lapu, my pineapple was small so I got my extra in a glass, Kaylee you are so right on this one it was beautiful.
It was a perfect end to a perfect day .....
