Famous People You have met While at WDW

As a former employee of NBC (prior to the Universal merger) you might be surprised to know that NBC/GE Employees had access to discounted passes, hotel discounts etc. The pass discounts at the time were significant... been too long tho, I dont' remember specifics.

Altho I did meet several of the W&G cast in Burbank.. at CBS Studio Center where the show is filmed. (Go figure)

My only famous people encounter at DW is an anchor from CNN.. but i totally forget his name. Jim something or other. I think he works for fox news now.

hey Dis'ers I thought it would be cool to start a thread where we could all share tales of celbrities we have seen or met while at the world!!! ::MickeyMo

I'll start:

I met Raven Scimone waiting in line for The Voyage of the Little Mermaid. She was still all the Cosby show so she was still a little girl...but I had her sign in my autograph book. How ironic that years later she became a Disney girlie ::MinnieMo

how about you? :listen:

Seeing disney stars at WDW is totaly normal I think. :thumbsup2 Disney always send their peps.

While we were having lunch at Cinderella's castle (2003), Star Jones of The View was seated at the next table.

When I worked at AKL, we had the girl that placed third on American Idol (Kimberley Locke) stay; I took some packages to her room for her....we had Pink and Corey Hart in Conceirge for a few days. THAT was cool. Corey came up to me at the front desk and said that Alicia wanted to know if the Pepsi she ordered had come in...I checked, it did, and he asked me to deliver it to the room. I took it into the presidental suite for them, and Pink later came out to the lounge to get some food. It was kinda neat, I wasn't aware of who they were until a little later.

My friend worked at the Art of Disney when Michael Jackson came in, and he let him try on a watch in one of the cases. He came to find out a few days later that Michael left the store, with the watch still on, and never paid for it.

Oh, phoo. What was that guy's name...he also stayed at AKL...he's a commentator on ESPN, and there's a HUGE pic of him at the EPSN place at the Boardwalk. Well, anyways, he came up to me at my station and wanted some new keycards for his room because they were not working. I looked at him and exclaimed, "HEY! You were on VH-1's I Love The 80's!" He laughed and said yes...but most people recognized him as being on ESPN.

I felt really stupid. :rolleyes1 And I STILL can not think of his name!

Are you thinking of Stuart Scott? His nephew was a student of mine.

LOL, too funny. Nice to know that celebrities' kids do that kind of stuff too. :rotfl:

The guy who played "Bubba" from "Heat of the Night" (TV version) lived near where I grew up. I saw him in Target with his little girl once and she was playing with the disembodied toilet seats in the "hardware" aisle! It was pretty funny. He smiled at me and said, "She really likes toilet seats!" :rotfl2: She was around potty-training age so I can imagine she really had a fascination with them! :lmao:

We are going to be at WDW July 7th, the weekend the newly refurbished Pirates of the Caribbean ride opens. Wouldn't it be something if Johnny Depp and/or Orlando Bloom was there? I don't even know what I would do...probably die or make an absolute idiot of myself by being completely hysterical! I would love to meet either one of them!

Johnny Dep was just in WDW a few months ago ;) The same week Robin Williams was there as well.

This last December trip we got to see Mariah Carey and Diana like somebody posted before on here. The other two surprise encounters were with Toby Keith and Joey from Nsync. I was walking by Sci fi restaurant and grabbed my teen daughter and said that is Joey (shock i knew who he was) he was going in to eat with his family so didn't even get a picture. Just wanted my teens to see him but not bother him. Then we got a picture of Toby Keith at illuminations. (well after it) I just took a picture of "hubby" but somehow Hubby didn't get in it and Toby Keith was zoomed up from the background of what I was shooting! (Didn't wnat to look like we recognized him) We had overheard a CM telling his grandma to go to meet him so we just folowed her! and took the picture from a distance. :goodvibes I wonder how many stars we walk right by on our trips.

OMG, MARIAH CAREY!!!!!!!!!!!!! She's only my favorite recording artist of all-time! Was she at Magic Kingdom filming her Christmas Day special? I think she filmed there in Nov., 2004. :cool1:

As a CM back in the early 90's I got to meet so many cool celebs. Here is who I can remember:

Bruce Willis and Demi (back when they were still married)
James Earl Jones
Nell Carter
Charles Barkley
Conan O'Brien
Joan Lunden (her dd danced with our group in the xmas parade)
Regis Philbin (who was a big jerk)
Nancy Kerrigan
Michael Jackon (danced next to him @ Mannequins...lol)

That's all I can think of right now.

Just a little insider tip...during the MK parades they used to put the celebs on the bridge between frontierland and main Street. That is where the costume people would be to fix any costume problems we might have, and they used to keep celebs away from the crowds there too. We usually knew which nights celebs would be there b/c the whisper would go thru the cast before step off, but we never knew who. At the end of the parade we would all get together and figure out who it was.

Funny story...I used to work @ Horizons before I moved to MK entertainment, and GE used to sponsor it, as you probably know. One day while working we heard that they were bringing David Letterman's replacement thru the line. We were so excited to see who it was and in walks this GIANT guy with red hair. He was so gawky and tall, and none of us believed that this guy was replacing THE David Letterman. We were so disappointed. Little did we know then that he would be as big as he is today! :lmao:

OMG and I forgot the biggest one!

I did a character breakfast for Princess Di and the boys at GF!! They blocked off the whole back room for them and we did a private half hour with the boys.

I shook her hand...it was so tiny.

The boys were very quiet and so well behaved...but the boy that was with them was so obnoxious. Kept pulling my tail... :sad2:

You totally win the PRIZE!!! That is awsome, what an unforgettable moment. I envy you!

hmm let's see there have been so many
mickey, minnie, chip n dale, some guy with a tail and sunglasses, the list goes on.

One day I was working greeter in front of Minnie's House in Toontown and I saw Carolina Rhea (one of the aunts from Sabrina the Teenage Witch).

Then on another day I was at the parks on my day off. My boyfriend was working up at Barnstormer so I went up the exit to say hey. When I got up there he said to me, "That guy from Forrest Gump is on the ride right now....Lt. Dan. I said "Who? Gary Sinise? No way. It's probably someone who just looks like him." Sure enough the train pulls into the station and there he is sitting with his family. He gets off the ride and walks down the exit. I said, "Oh my gosh! That was Gary Sinise!!" My boyfriend said, "I told you so."

My sister worked at MGM and met Gary Sinise many times and also met James Avery (Uncle Phil from Fresh Prince) twice.

Oh a CM working in Toontown came back from working parade duty one afternoon and said Johnny Depp was at the parade.

Oh almost forget......one day while working at Hall of Fame we had a family visit the Cinderella room (and Ariel was there for the day) with one of those CM tour guides. It was Jodi Benson (Ariel's voice from the movie). It was soo cool to hear her talk.....and pretty funny to watch Ariel meet Ariel!

Okay, so this is totally going to sound stupid after all of these big celebrities, but one time we were walking around Fantasyland and saw one of the local television anchors from where we lived pushing her kid's stroller. My brothers and I were freaking out because it was weird seeing someone we knew there. We were like, "Hey, isn't that.... OH MY GOSH!" :teeth:
