I will be traveling to London in late August with my 14 year old daughter (14 at the time of our trip). On a past visit, I purchased a 1-day family travel card, which we used after 9:30 am.

I'm confused by the information I'm seeing on the Transport for London website, and I understand the agency is trying to move people from 'paper' tickets to cards. However, is this 1-day family travel card still available? If it is not, it seems my best bet would be to purchase a 7-day travel card for myself and pay the 1 pound fee for my daughter each day we use the tube/bus. What is not clear to me, is where do I get the photo card required for children over 13?

Thanks in advance for any and all help.

We used the one day travel rail cards over the new year period, they put the prices up on 1.1.07 to £5.30 I think it was. Don't know where you get the photocards from. I think they are trying to encourage people to use the Oyster cards.

Thanks, LizzyLemon, for the information. I'm glad to hear we can still get the 1-day card (I last paid £3.20, so that is a pretty steep increase--in view of the poor exchange rate for the dollar--to £5.90).

We will be staying in a rented apartment right off Bond Street and will be walking distance to a lot of places/activities we plan to do, which is why I prefer to buy the 1-day cards when I need one.
