Anyone who has stayed in one...are the family suites worth the extra money you pay? (however much that is?) I'm currently starting to plan a trip with my daughter and 2 grandchildren, and I'd like us to have more space to "stretch out". Time we're looking at, around Jan. 6 thru the 10th. I have never stayed in a value resort so am going in "blind".
Comments please?

Do you have AAA ? They came up with discount for me with Feb dates.

I DO have AAA, but the dates I have to be there (on account of a cheerleading competition) are in early Jan., not Feb. Any chance of getting AAA earlier, ya think?
What did you think of the suite? Can you elaborate on how it suited you (or if you were disappointed)?

P.S....Love your property rating system!! By the way, that Rosen Shingle Creek is the place we have to be for the cheerleading competition! I'd never heard of it til today.

I would just call and ask.

For comparison, the price of a Family Suite is $9-11 more then 2 Standard Rooms, or $13-15 less the 2 Preferred Rooms, depending on season.

Also a fridge is included in AS Suite.

Fridges cost $10 a night to rent when staying at a value . Don't forget the Queen size bed,a coffee pot and microwave are also in Family Suites.

DH and I stayed in a Family Suite at All Star Music ( a value resort)Sept. of2006

We really enjoyed the Queen size bed, the kitchenette with the microwave, having a sofa and cushioned chair to sit on and relax after a day at the parks before retiring for the evening.

I thought the pullouts very comfortable.

They are designed so the back cushion and seat cushion of the pullout support the pullout. There is no metal bar to hurt the sleepers back.

Have fun at Disney wherever you choose to stay!:wizard:

One of the perks I like is that there doesn't seem to be an extra adult fee when booking this room. I've put in the info for 2 adults and 2 adult kids and there has never been the extra adult fee on the price. This is a nice perk, especially if you want to take your over 18 kids or grandparents. Having the bigger frig than what is offered in the moderates and deluxes is nice too. It's similar to the set up in the DVC studios. I am thinking of booking this next summer. I like that discounts are now being offered on them. I wish they would build more.

You are correct.
There is no extra fee for extra adults in the Family Suites.
1-6 adults can stay in the Family Suites for the same base price.

Also keep watching for those discounts on the Family Suites.

I've got my eyes open, Linda! Historically, there should be a discount for the first of the year...how much of one remains to be seen. Plus, will it be room only or must I buy a package, which I have never done. It will be me, my daughter and my two "grands". No way they will have free dining in Jan., right?

I have a question, if they offer free dining next year can you book the suite?

Right now, the only free dining offer I've heard is the "travel trade" program, similar to last year's "bounceback". Basically, if you book your next vacation before leaving, you can get the free dining....I think the dates this year are Aug 27-Sept 29. As part of the "Traveltrade" you CAN book the Family Suite and still get free dining. With the "bounceback", one could not get the free grub. That apparently has changed for this year. Also, you may already know this....for next year's free dining with the traveltrades promotion, you can choose free dining, or you can pay about $32/adult, $12/child and get three meals (either TS or QS or combination of both), 2 snacks, and a refillable mug per person.

I'm not sure what the options/prices/restrictions will be if/when the announce free dining to the general publiic. All I can speakof is the free dining they offer to guests booking before checking out.

Hope this helps!!

Thanks, we did not book the bounceback when we were there because we are not sure of our dates yet. My husband said NO to Disney next year before we left but kinda sweetened up to the idea after eating all that yummy food etc..I guess we will have to wait and see..Thanks again..

I have not stayed in suites yet, but I look forward to it now that I can get a discount on them. Minnie, who has posted, is your best source for info on them.

Rosen Shingle Creek is new. Opened last September. Beautiful resort and the convention area is incredible. Has the largest non-pillared ballroom in the nation. We spent some time exploring and asking questions. Was there for the week spring break :thumbsup2

Here is a thread where I posted photos http://www.disboards.com/showthread.php?t=1424489 and a few of photos are in convention center.
