Hey all, this is my last post before we go!

So are there gonna be any rides we can all go on together as a family? I know most of my time we'll be child swapping, but are there any rides we can take the 2 year old on with us?

I'm thinking Disaster, Jaws, umm... ET? Ok the train ride would probably be the best one but man I can't think of any others. Will we even be able to take her on ET? We could wait for the spaceship right?

Oh yea, Cat in the Hat. Am I missing any? The baby coasters are too much I think.

You can all play in Curious George's Island. Be sure to take a change of clothing since you can get pretty wet .. but it is fun.
You can all experience Barney...
over in IOA, I am not sure if there is a height limit for One Fish Two Fish..but you can do that if there isn't....and don't forget Carosuessel (not sure of the sp)

A lot of rides have minimum height requirements.
The Seuss trolley and ET ride both have a 34" minimum height requirement.

The Universal Orlando website has a page for kids rides...http://www.universalorlando.com/OverviewPages/Rides/ridesforkids.aspx

You've gotta be kidding... the trolley? ET I could understand because they use bikes, was just hoping the spaceship would accomodate... but the trolley? That's the lamest thing I ever heard.

Thanks for the info though, I guess there are less family rides than I thought... and I couldn't think of many to begin with.

Don't knock it til you try it. I like the trolley as much as I do the TTA...it just doesn't last as long as the TTA. It gives you a great view of Seuss Landing and there are characters along the track. It's a nice relaxing ride and I bet your kids would really like it.

BTW...what spaceship are you talking about?

Metro, I'm sure the trolley is great, but I won't be able to take my 2 year old on it with me? Basically, I'll have to do a child swap to go on the trolley? I'm not knocking it at all, it's just unbelievable that they have a height requirment on it.

The spaceship on ET, it comes by once in awhile to accomodate handicapped and larger folks? Can anyone back me up on this one? I figured we could take the 2 year old with us on that vehicle.

I thought you were talking about the 8 year old. I'm guessing there is a minimum height because it's elevated above the ground and there's a risk of falling.

when i was a kid we rode ET and my mom and I rode the bikes while my sister (who was little) and my dad rode the space ship. that was probably close to 20 years ago now, so don't know that current policy.

The reason for the trolley is probably because kids have to sit in their own seat and fit in the restraints. Since the trolley is "high in the sky", the restraints have to ensure that no one was going to be able to slip out and fall over the edge.

Yea the reason for this thread is for rides all 6 of us (me, my wife, DD8, DD6, DD4, and DD2) can ride at the same time as a family.

Now it seems there might not be a single ride at Universal that we can do this, which is rather disappointing. Oh well, the thrill rides are what we're going for mostly anyway.

You can ride Caro-Seuss-El for sure. I don't see a height limit on One Fish Two Fish.

How tall is the two year old? There are things that you must be 34" for.

We are a tall family (I'm 6'2", wife is 5'10" and our girls are extremely tall for their ages) but even so my 2 year old I'm sure is not 34 inches yet. The 4 year old is just under 44 inches.

The carosel is not something I would call a ride... it's just a kid's thingy. I have not seen 1 fish 2 fish... is that like Dumbo? I wouldn't consider that either.

No worries, we'll make the best of our trip. Child swapping will suffice.

Besides, if there are height requirement I'm sure it's for the best and wouldn't want to put my girls at any risk.

Thanks for the feedback all! :goodvibes

We last went to Universal when my kids were 7 and 3 1/2. Don't discount the power of One Fish, Two Fish! :rotfl2: Both my kids repeatedly ran back around to get back in the express line for OFTF - the song is addictive and the chance of getting sprayed with water makes it much more fun than Dumbo. I even tried to download the One Fish Two Fish song when we got home because we were all still singing it! ;)

There was not a lot for my 3 year old to do - we did all the Seuss Landing rides (she was older and made the height requirement for the trolley, which we must have done 30 times), the Seuss playground, the Curious George playground (awesome!), Barney - there was more for her at IOA than at Universal. Her sister was happy to hang with her for a while, but when DD7 split off with DH to ride some other rides, we went back to Seuss Landing! I'm looking forward to this trip as they are now 11 and 7 - there will still be things DD11 will do that DD7 won't (like FJ, although she is tall enough), but I expect to be able to do more things together.

I thought you were talking about the 8 year old. I'm guessing there is a minimum height because it's elevated above the ground and there's a risk of falling.

I think it's because of the restraint system, but the type of restraint system they use is probably due to it being elevated.

ET still has the spaceship?? I haven't seen it in years. I go fairly often too.. I guess I just always miss it. I would love to see when I have my 21DD with me. She doesn't remember it. I told her how when she & my DS were small, I would take him on the "bikes" and they were more like real bikes as opposed to those there now.. and my mom would take her on the spaceship (she was a baby/tot) when we first went. The first year they were open :thumbsup2

Ugh, it's midnight and stuck in awful traffic in Virginia...

I haven't been to UO in about 10 years so maybe they took the spaceships out. I'll let y'all know after I check it out.

I'm pretty sure the spaceships aren't there anymore. I think they just use modified bikes for those with wheelchairs and such.

Anyway, the pre-ride video used to include spaceship OR bike (or at least that's how I heard it was back then...can't remember that far back since I was just a little girl) and that isn't the case anymore.

If I don't get to the park too late today, I'll ask someone.

Bah, I kept forgetting to ask about the spaceship. My kids loved ET... even the 2 year old! She is taller than I thought, they even let her in line for P. Flyers but we changed our minds about letting her go on that one.

So there were actually alot of cool stuff we saw as a family, ET being the most enjoyful as a whole. After the 2 year old got off that one clapping (she clapped after every ride we went on) she said "Im happy." :)

Family attractions we went on:

FOTH
Woody Woopecker Coaster
Dr. Suess Trolly
Cat in the Hat
1 Fish 2 Fish (I loved it!)
Carosel (suess)
Storm Force (Not me because they only allow 5 per car... plus I get sick)
Beetlejuice
Terminator
Jaws
E.T.

Overall not a bad turnout. Soon enough there will be plenty more attractions we could add to that list. Plus we didn't see alot of shows, it was hard to time them right.

We opted not to do Disaster either, my wife didn't want to go and thought it might freak out the kids.... but JAWS was ok! :confused3

Glad that there were lots of things your whole family could enjoy!

I told you not to discount the power of One Fish Two Fish! :rotfl2: Are you still singing the song? I was singing it at dinner the other night after posting on this thread! :lmao:

Yes it has crossed my mind even now :rotfl:

The first ride I tried avoiding the water, the second I was aiming for it! Great song indeed! :hippie:
