Another day, another early entry. Do you see a trend here? Well, I almost couldn't get them up this time. Even though Disney's Animal Kingdom is NATAHZU, I couldn't get my crew too excited about it. We weren't there for the park opening. I was afraid of the line growing too big at Kilimanjaro Safaris, but today, at Animal Kingdom, we didn't use the wisdom of the Boards. We kind of just wandered around. What can I say? It was sort of a rebellion, but I was in on it too. We wandered in around 8:30 or so, headed no place in particular. Went into It's Tough to be a Bug! and loved it. Looked at the Tree of Life. It is beautiful. Then we went into DinoLand, knowing that Dinosaur is closed for rehab and that the line is growing at KS. We didn't care! We rode the Primeval Whirl 2-3 times, and then DS and I rode TriceraTop Spin. We started wandering again. We wandered over to the Kali River Rapids, which I had decided not to ride. But I changed my mind. I'm so glad I did. I really liked this ride. It never ceases to amaze me the attention to details at Disney. The queuing area is supposed to look like an outfitters office and Disney has it down to a T. It was really a cool ride. DS was hoping to get soaked, I was hoping not to get soaked. We all got a little wet, but one poor man and his son were soaked to their skin. We continued our wandering and finally made it over to Kilimanjaro Safais where the standby posted wait time was 70 minutes and the Fastpass return was about 3 hours away. Our plans did not include another 3 hours at AK and none of us wanted to wait in that line (which I really think was longer than 70 minutes), so we wandered our way out of the park and back to the Beach Club Villas. On the bus, DH turned to me and said, "Have I mentioned to you that I was elected Judge back in my home state?" DS presented DD with yet another "special" Hidden Mickeyshe keeps sitting next to him-what does she expect?
We all spent some time at the Stormaway Bay Pool. I even got to go down the slide! Yipee! The whirlpool is fun and so is the lazy river. I really like that sandbottom pool. I wasn't sure I'd like it, but it is really nice on those tired feet.
After that bit of down time, we headed out for the Studios again. We intended to get over to Who Wants to Be a Millionaire? but the wait was too long. We all wanted to ride Rocknroller Coaster, even DH. DD went over and got FastPasses for TOT. Then we got in line for RNR. It wasn't too bad a wait 20 minutes or so. DH agreed that it was a very smooth coaster. No back problems with this ride. DD and I were the only ones riding TOT this time. It was fun. Then we headed over to the Hollywood Brown Derby a little early for our Fantasmic package PS at 6:00.
The table wasn't quite ready, so DS and I walked outside and caught part of the parade. DD came running out after about 4 minutes and said the table was ready, so in we went. Now we've taken the kids to nice restaurants before, but maybe this is just where DS caught on, but he realized this was a nice place and that the food aught to be very good. He told his Dad he knew how to tell when he was in a nice restaurant (and his wisdom is pretty good on this point in my book). He said that if the waiters are dressed like James Bond, you know you're in a good restaurant. Now, if you don't want to hear about good food, just skip ahead to the next paragraph, but this was really good. DS ate off the children's menu of course, but he took bites from everyone, so don't feel sorry for him. The waiter also brought him a Shirley Temple, which he really liked ( and DH and I liked that the waiter took time with him too). DD got the Portobello Mushroom appetizer. DH got the Oyster and Clam Chowder. I got the Crab Cakes. We all shared and tasted each dish. They were all great. Next, DD got the Steak with Horseradish Potatoes. DH got the Rack of Lamb. I ordered the Tuna with Wasabi Potatoes. I tasted the others' and they tasted mine; I think each of us would say that ours was the best! Next came dessert (we're on the packageremember!) DD ordered the Flourless Chocolate Cake (which I would have ordered myself if she hadn't); DH ordered the Creme Brulee; and I ordered the Bananas Foster Mascarpone Cheesecake. It's all good!!
We wandered into a couple of shops and then made our way over to Oscar's Filling Station to head in for our seats at Fantasmic. We loved the show and loved our seats. I don't think there's a bad seat in the big stadium. We met some nice people from Cleveland, and had another great evening to end another great day!
