On another tread someone mentioned about the Family Plan for the Water Sprites and other water crafts - Does anyone know if this is available for Fort Wilderness camping?

From what I understand it is only available at the Wilderness Lodge marina.

But that is only a hop skip and a jump away:jester:

It is available at FW ..... we just did it. It was $199 for 7 consecutive days. This allowed you to have up to 4 boats at a time out on the lake (including pontoons). There was no limit on how long you could stay out ...... this was a great feature! The marina hours are 10-5. Drivers must be 12 years old and 5 ft. tall. We thought it was a great value and plan to use it again when we return in November.

Wow, this is a great deal. Does it just include the water sprites (mouse) or does it include the pontoon boats as well?

Also, does anyone know the cost to rent the water mice for 1/2 hour and hour? I'm going to have to look at our itinerary and see if it would be feasible for us to use the 7 cons. days of this or not. We may just be able to fit in the 1/2 or hour one. (we will be using our Disney club card....I wonder if you get a discount on this deal or not?)

Oh good.Someone asked what I was going to! We will be there Oct.2004 and we were very curious about the package. Thanks for the info!;)

The water sprites were $23 per 1/2 hour. They do offer a 15% discount for AP holders, but no DC discount. Like I stated earlier, they had no limit on how long you could keep the sprites out. We had them out for over 2 hours one day. We had the pontoon out on two separate occasions for more than 2 hours each time .... no problem.

When they call it the "Family Plan ", does it mean just immediate family? What I am wondering is how loosely they define family. My cousin and her husband just might be traveling with us in December and I was wondering if they would be able to use the plan with us?

When you take out a pontoon boat no matter how you rent it you are not allowed to take any fishing equipment along. The CM said that they used to allow it but to be honest it was cutting into the fishing trips that that they sell. So now you have to do a fishing trip for close to $200 if you want to fish from a boat. Just wanted to mention it because not being able to fish was a big deal to us so we passed on the deal. It would still be fun to boat around but we really wanted to fish.

The "family plan" just meant that the staff at the marina had to have a list of the 4 "family" drivers. They keep names, etc. to check when you come down to get the boats. They don't care if they are cousins, uncles or grandpa's ...... just come on down! As for the fishing thing ..... true. Although they don't allow fishing, they do say that it is absolutely okay to bring a picnic lunch or snacks on-board. Actually, we found them to be really flexible. Have fun!

We have 5 in our family, so can I list 4 of us as "drivers", and let the other one just ride along? Or is it limited to just those 4 people?

Is this Family plan posted on the disney web site? Just curious. I think we may end up doing this too.

We will be camping at FW during the 4th of July week. I would like to get the recreation family plan where 4 people can use the boats for $199.00. While we are there our grown children and spouses will be visiting at different times. How would that work? Do they check ID's everytime you board?

Do you need to call & make a ressie for these boats ahead of time? Esp. with the family plan?

Each "driver" has to sign a waiver (or if under 18 a parent/guardian has to sign). They do check the names each time. I do not believe you can make a ressie for the water mice, but I think you can/should for the pontoon boats. When we did this last year we signed up five people from out party. Each was able to take a boat out and could bring (if they could fit!) another person. There was not a time limit, but they did ask for them to check back in occasionally to make sure no one else was waiting. We were there for 12 nights and we really got use out of the package! BTW...we did it out of the Contemporary!!

I hope they continue to do this into the new year. We will be there this holiday season and were hoping to rent these. I thought it would be a great thing to do while Mom fixed their lunch or dinner. Doe anyone know what time you can rent the boats till, or does it change each season? Also can you take out more then four boats with this plan or are you limited to four boats? There are six of us. Can we all go out together if two people ride along? Sorry for so many questions. I just don't want to tell the kids the wrong information.

Marina hours are currently 10-5, with boats going out no later than 4:15. With the family plan they only let you take out 4 boats at a time, but 2 people can fit in each boat (up to 320 pound weight limit, I believe). Hope this helps!

Has anyone done this recently? Have the rules or prices changed?

That's a great question. We haven't done this for a LONG time!! Just giving you a bump...

Hi everyone...

I just wanted to give this thread a bump to see if anyone knows if the Family Plan is still an option at Ft. Wilderness. We're going with some friends in November and would like to sign up!

Thanks! :)
