does anyone know what time they pick the family of the day at. If the park opens at 9am with early park hours and open at 8am. what time would they pick and where would one go to maybe try to get picked?

From stories I have read it's 30 min before opening- you just wait with everyone else out front. They usually pick a family of 4 but not always. They also pick families with older kids- no toddlers or infants.

Again, from what I read, the best way to get picked is to all be smiling and having fun, dress "fun", and look like you are just open to some pixie dust! You may see a CM coming around chatting up folks so definitely be talkative.

Good luck!

And whatever you do, do not let on that you are trying to be picked.

The last year before I started taking all my boys to Disney at once, I had my two oldest with me and we were chosen as Family of the Day just the three of us. We had been trying to make a breakfast ADR at 'Ohana, and by the time we reached the MK we realized it was pointless and we wouldn't make it. So, I gave the boys the option of just waiting to get into the MK earlier instead.

When a CM asked us why we were there so early we explained, and then we ran around playing tag since we were by far the only people there. After a while he came up and asked us to follow him. I didn't even know about Family of the Day then, and never went with the intention of being chosen, it was an amazing surprise and a memory we won't forget. pixiedust:
