Hi,
I had asked before about some nice beaches on St Thomas and you guys were a great help. So now how about ST Maarten. We are looking for a nice beach that we can take a family of eight too.Two adults and six children. Some where that is safe and has maybe rest rooms close by.....food would be nice too.
thanks,thatmom

megans bay. nice ride from the ship maybe 15mins from ship one of the best beaches in the world they have bathrooms food a little gift shop chairs and other stuff to rent also kayaks to rent went there on 4/27 went early before it gets crowded then back to ship for shower change and lunch then some nice shoping you can do all this on your own 6dollars each for the taxi and 3 for the beach very nice and safe felt at ease with the kids i can not say the same for st martin kept the kids real close at all times this place is really not that nice the people are not that nice just looking for your money a lot of people here say its nice but do yourself a favour and travle in a crowd i was just there and i am from nyc so i do know how to spot things that are not right so just keep your eyes open they try to hustle you on the beach and everware else do know how much money you give someone they say you gave me a 10 when you really gave them a 20 have fun but dont miss magans bay

Magen's Bay is at St Thomas. The question was about St Maarten. For St Maarten, Dawn Beach seems to be a popular choice. Or for real simplicity, Great Bay Beach.

Another vote for Dawn Beach. Easy to get to (cab ride) nice beach
resturant, bathrooms right there. Chairs/Umbrellas available. Very uncrowded (when we were there). Cab came back to pick us up.A group your size may want to look at renting a car, it might be cheaper. We met some DIS friends at the beach. They were a party of 6. It only cost them 30.00 to rent a Jeep, the cab ride would have cost 30.00 EACH WAY. I wish we had done it that way too.
Have a great time!

I would also recommend Great Bay Beach for convenience/simplicity which was great for our family of seven. The water taxi takes you there easily and affordably. If you go down the beach to the area by the trampoline in the water, the beach stands had drinks and rented chairs, umbrellas and floats, very reasonable and locked, spotless restroom. We also rented a waverunner in the afternoon - I took two kids at a time for 15 min each - great fun! Also, right behind the beach on the main street is a McDonalds - wouldn't normally recoomend McD's but it worked well with the kids. Further down the street is the Guavaberry Emporium, a don't miss in St. Martin. We waited for St. Thomas to get a taxi and headed to Coki Beach, where we had a great day snorkeling and swimming. Have fun.
