We have 6 children newborn to 13. The largest 2 bedroom stateroom is up to 7 people. If we went in 2 years, youngest would be 2...would they count her, or could we fit the 8 of us in the 2 bedroom? Thanks!!

Your best bet is two connecting rooms that sleep at least 4. For the reservation you put one parent in each room but no one care where you sleep. You can leave the connecting door open.

if you have trustworthy older kids you can do one balcony/ocean view and an interior across the hall to save $.

You will almost certainly end up saving money by booking two rooms too, even if you book two balcony cabins. Plus that way you can have more flexibility in terms of using one room to put kids to bed/nap and having the other as a space to hang out.

Join the club, we're family of 6, we've had to book 2 staterooms on every cruise we've been on. We do one veranda and then an inside stateroom across the hall for the teenagers. The teenagers could care less about having a veranda and it's a little cheaper than doing 2 connected verandas (only time we see our teens is at dinner). I just have to go to guest services and get an additional card so that I can get into my veranda room because technically I'm in the inside room even though I do not sleep there. You must be doing one of the classic ships because I think on the Dream class the max capacity for the largest stateroom is only 5.

We are a family of five. When the kids were younger we stayed in a family verandah room. In December 2018, we got two rooms. Verandah for hubby and me, and an inside stateroom right across the hall from us for the kiddos. Our youngest was 12 at the time so she just crashed in either room. Our two oldest were 21 and 18 at the time. I am not sure how comfortable I would be in letting the kids sleep across the hall when the oldest is 13. I would do connecting rooms. You can leave the door open and keep an ear and eye out for everyone.

If I understand correctly, you were considering a 2 BR suite. One option for your family might be a connecting one bedroom suite and family concierge stateroom. The combined capacity would be ten. Happy planning.

Unlike WDW, where a child under age 3 doesn't "count" towards occupancy, every single passenger "counts" on DCL. (There is a fare charged for the little ones as well.) So yes, you will need accommodations for 7 people.

DCL's classic ships have 2-bedroom concierge suites for up to 6 guests. There are regular staterooms on all 4 ships for 3-5 passengers. You can book connecting rooms (unlike WDW) which will give you the space large enough for your family. I'm not sure if you truly were interested in Concierge-level accommodations, or if it's just that has the largest occupancy. 2 connecting regular staterooms will most likely be less expensive than the concierge suite, and you'll have your choice of interior, oceanview or verandah to further adjust costs. I suggest you play around with the booking tool to get some ideas of pricing. The first 2 passengers in each stateroom are "full fare" so put your youngest 4 children as the 3rd/4th passengers. You might also want to work with a TA who is very familiar with DCL.

Enjoy your cruise!
