We are a family of 6. We will have 2 rooms this trip and the dining plan. Will all of our credits be available on all cards? It would be awful to have them seperated and possibly have to make 2 transaction for 1 meal. TIA

Yup they will all be on each persons card. Its like a shared bank account. You can put restrictions on children's cards i believe if you want.

I could be wrong but I thought DDP credits were tied to your room, so if you have 2 rooms you would have to give the server 2 cards, one from each room to access all the credits.

No, that's not always the case. If you have 2 connecting rooms and there are only 2 adults on the reservation, meaning everyone else on the reservation is a minor, then your dining credits are pooled between the two rooms.

OP, I do want to mention, that even though your credits are pooled, some servers don't know about this policy and will still ask for a card from both rooms. I learned it's just better to give them a card from each room than to argue.

Also, even if you had two separate rooms and your dining credits were separated, you still wouldn't have to have two separate dining reservations. We've gone to Disney with different family members, all in different rooms with their own dining credits, and we are all still on the same dining reservations and time - you would simple indicate to the server which party was together and they will deduct the appropriate credits from each party's card. It's not a big deal at all.

That is NOT what they did at Pop when we had two rooms (connecting) a few years ago. They had 1A, 2C on room 1 and 1A, 1C on room 2. And it was two adults and 3 minor children (all under 8). We just handed both cards at ea meal.

If both rooms are under the same reservation number, the credits will be pooled.

If they have different reservation numbers, the credits will be split between rooms and cannot be combined.

This is true no matter how many adults or minors are registered. It is not "awful" to deal with, just make sure you bring a key card from each room when you go to the restaurants.

It really isn't a big deal to hand over 2 cards and pay the bill as 2 separate transactions. Just let your server know up front and she'll take care of it for you. It really is simple and servers are very used to it. Parties in different rooms eat together all the time.

I believe TDC Nala is right. It's about the confirmation numbers, not the rooms. If you've got one confirmation number then the credits should be available on all room keys and if they're separate confirmation numbers then the credits will be separated per room.

If there is 3 or more adults on a 2 connecting rooms reservation, there will automatically be 2 reservation numbers - always. The only way you can keep one reservation number on 2 connecting rooms, and thereby having all of your dining credits pooled, is if there are only 2 adults on the reservation and the rest of the party is all minors.

Well, since connecting rooms are never a guarantee, I don't see how they can set that up. Disney sees it as if you have two adults, you CAN split up if need be. I would say ask when booking, and see if they will set you up with one resort confirmation number. If they won't, there's no way to join up the credits. Unless this is something they set up at the front desk AFTER you receive the connecting room, and if so, it was likely a favor done by the resort staff and not policy.

Yes, even though it was listed like that on your cards, your dining credits were still pooled in the Disney Dining system and you could have actually paid with one card. This is what "throws" most servers.

Okay, I don't want to go into the whole connecting rooms are not guaranteed debate, because sometimes they actually can be guaranteed, but that is how it is set up. Can they change it in the system to separate the reservations? Yes, but generally, if there are only 2 adults on a reservation, and the rest of the party is minors, then you will have one reservation number.

They're never guaranteed. If you arrive and that connecting room isn't available, you dont get it. Especially with two adults, even if you have the same reservation number, it doesn't mean the rooms will be guaranteed to be connecting. At any rate that is a discussion for the resort board.

If for some reason you arrive and your resort is "out" of connecting rooms, you simply ask for the manager and they WILL find you a connecting room at a comparable resort, or a room to accomodate your party, even if they have to upgrade you.

Unless you actually saw that each receipt shows that the total number of credits on each receipt reflected pooled numbers, I don't see how you can say that this is absolutely true. I'm glad that this is what happened for you but it is NOT the norm when there are two separate resort confirmation numbers.

I didn't say it was the norm for 2 separate reservations? In fact there would never be pooled dining credits with 2 separate resort reservation numbers. I was indicating that the poster, that I quoted there, probaby had pooled credits and didn't know it, because even with 2 connecting rooms on one reservation, your KTTW cards are still going to have a breakdown of Adults/children on the front of the card. So it may appear that your credits would be separate, but in the dining system the credits would be pooled.

That person never said that she had a single confirmation number for the two connecting rooms. Most don't.

If you are saying the keys indicate the party split up by room, that is not what our keys were like. We had 2 connecting rooms under one reservation number. Our keys indicated the total party size-4 adults (for dining purposes) and 1 child.

Most do. She stated they had 2 parents and 3 children in 2 connecting rooms, why would they have 2 resort room reservations? Unless you have a specific reason for wanting 2 separate resort reservations, which I don't know what that would be, and specifically request 2 separate resort reservations, you are NOT going to have 2 separate resort reservations for 2 connecting rooms that hold 2 adults and 4 to 6 minors - its going to be one resort reservation number.

If you have a thrid adult or one of your children is 18 or over, then you will automatically have 2 resort reservations. If not, it's one reservation number. That is a normal booking practice, not something unique to me when I've booked our 15 or so connecting rooms reservations over the years.
