Family of 5?

Is POR the only reasonably priced resort for a family of 5? That is our favorite moderate, but I just wanted to know if that is the only place we will be able to stay from now on.

Are any of your children still infants and in a crib??? If so, you can stay at a value or the other moderates. If all are over age 2, than yes, Port Orleans Riverside is the most cost effective for a family of 5. I think Fort Wilderness Cabins or Contemporary might be the next...

The baby will be two next summer when we go again. We were able to stay at CSR and POR this month and he was in a pack and play. When I tried to get room quotes for next summer the system would only allow me to get a suite at evey hotel except POR. I thought they didn't count the baby if he was under 3 but I guess it is under 2.

We have five also. The next time we go, we are going for the cabin.
There was just not enough room at POR for us. Beautiful place, loved it, but want to stretch our legs!

Yep--POR is the only moderate that fits 5. We've done the trundle bed twice, but decided that our son was getting a bit big for him to be comfortable on the trundle on the floor. Our options this fall were 2 connecting rooms at a moderate, or one at a deluxe. Not a suite, tho. 5 can fit into most deluxes--they have rooms with 2 queens and a daybed.

The online system does not recognize the 5th person as being under 3 correctly. It is under 3 so you will not have a problem staying in any resort you like.

Do you know if a studio would be big enough? It would save us alot of money getting a studio rather than a 1 bedroom.

We stayed in a studio at BWV once. I had to laugh at the "daybed". There is no way any one in our room wanted to sleep on it. It was more like a bench. When we toured Saratoga Springs our agent told us that the "daybeds" are only 5 feet long. I would say you could do five in the room if you have a pack and play. That is what we did when our oldest was a baby. My husbands younger brother and sister were not thrilled at all about sharing a bed. We thought one of them would be able to sleep on the daybed, but there was no way.

You have all resort choices available to you, but this is probably your last chance. Look into trying one that you won't 'fit' into next year. Their can be some very reasonable prices at akl or wl if you watch for discounts. We, too, are a family of 5 with limited choices so when one of my teens had a school conflict during our vacation last winter we grabbed a few days at both of these (as a temporary family of 4) to check them out. We really loved our very short stay at AKL. This year we'll all (happily) be back together so back to POR and BC.

Do you really feel the difference in POR vs BC? Are you cramped at POR? I've never personally stayed there before. We have 5 in our room this year and need to add 2 extra nights somewhere after BC pkg...

My family did. Last year we stayed 5 nights at BC and then moved for 3 nights at POR. There is a big difference in room size.

However, I'm glad we stayed at POR. I thought it was a great resort. It was nice having the food court after not having one at BC. The resort is beautiful and it was just a really nice place to say.

it is smaller. I just saw the number recently, I believe it was 314 sf at por vs around 375 at Bc. My plan is to go to the BC second so we won't mind. Have stayed at por a few times since our kids have been bigger and it works for us although I've heard others say they do feel cramped. We really enjoy the resort grounds and facilities, but only show up in the room to sleep and shower so it doesn't bother me. I know others who would rather have the space of two value rooms especially for the extra bath. We let our teens sleep, have the bathroom to ourselves and meet up with them a couple of hours later. I would rather have the nicer grounds than the bath. Personal preferance, I guess.

The studio and 1 bedroom have the same occupancy. The both sleep four plus a baby.

We are a family of 5, too. Our children were 2.5, 4, and 12 during our May visit. We stayed 5 in a room at AKL (8 days) and CSR (2 days) with no difficulty or crowding. At AKL, our 2.5 yo and 4 yo slept in the top bunk; while our 12 yo slept on the bottom. At CSR, I fell asleep with the younger children while dh and older ds went to DQ. Dh and 12 yo ds ended up sleeping together. We have one more family trip planned before we have to go to 2 rooms. We haven't done 2 rooms since we stayed at CBR a few years ago and did NOT get connecting rooms. Ugh!
