What onsite hotel do you recommend for a family of 5 for comfortable sleeping arrangements? 12, 16, 18 What are the rooms like?

Not really sure where we are staying yet. Still working on that.

I would recommend the deluxe queen room at the Hard Rock Hotel. It has two queen beds and a double pull out couch. The room is around 600 square feet so there is quite a bit of room.

Otherwise, two connecting standard rooms at any of the hotels would work but would be more expensive.

We really loved the deluxe room at the Portofino. It also has a sleeper sofa (loveseat size) and a HUGE bathroom. (I mean, the bathroom may have been larger than my youngest daughter's bedroom!). The room was very spacious, and we loved the atmoshere here.

I agree... the Portofino room is huge, would go for that one unless you are willing to pay for two rooms.

some have posted in the past that the couches were not as comfortable as they assumed they would be.

but since hrh was over hauled last year, the furniture should be new and comfortable.

Thats where we are at also.........2 adults, 13,11 and a 5 year old. You can forget about RPH.......unless you want to pay big $$$ for a suite. We were VERY cramped at RPH........they gave us a rollaway bed and the only place it would fit was in the sink area by the door! Still a GREAT resort, we LOVE it,but I wish they had deluxe rooms. We are prob. going to split stay at HRH,PBH in the double queen deluxe room. It has a sofa bed and two queens. They also have "kid suites", but they are a lot of $$$, but they look nice and comfortable! If you dont mind spending some extra $$$........I would go for the "kid suite". They have ALL the room layouts on the hotel/resort pages on the Universal Orlando web site.
BTW........I am not 100% sure but your 18yo, may be considered an adult. I think loews has a policy of only 2 adults per room ??? You may NEED two rooms or fudge a bit on the oldests age. Like I said,I am not 100% sure though. 17 is considered a "child" I think.

17 is considered a child, 18 an adult. Only two adults are allowed in a room without extra charges. The front desk does not check identification for the children upon check in.
