Family member Magic Band with MDE?

Is it possible for me to buy a Magic Band for a family member and put tickets on it without them? And then link it to my own Disney Experience account?

I'm trying to plan a winter visit with my parents, and I don't want them to have to deal with the reservations/fast passes - it'd be easier if I could do it. Can I purchase the extra magic bands and put tickets on them? We are in separate rooms on property, would we somehow need to link the reservations or do it separately? I'm trying to avoid having to get them to sign up for My Disney Experience and the whole deal.

My goal is to be able to do fast passes without them having to do anything within the 60-day window since we are all on property but in different resorts. My apologies if this has been asked before.

If they don't already have a MDE account; just don't make them one. You can add their reservation to your MDE account. - Just give the CM your email when you make the reservation. The magic bands and everything will come as usual- you can use different shipping addresses if that's an issue. We used to do this all the time. We would have 4 different rooms on property with 4 different reservation numbers but all under my account since I was the planner.

The only issue you'll run into really would be if you're trying to preorder at b our guest and want separate bills. Are you getting the dining plan? If you are; that's fine, but if you're also planning on using mobile order; only dining credits from your reservation will be able to be accessed from the app. - Really not a huge deal, but just wanted you to know.

There is a way for them to have their own MDE account, but you basically manage everything if you'd prefer that. It's a little more complicated.
 
You can add their reservation to your MDE account. - Just give the CM your email when you make the reservation.
If they've already booked the room just have them forward you the confirmation email - it has everything you need to add the reservation to MDE. You'll need to then create your parents in your MDE.
 
What's wrong with creating their own MDE? You can still link them as family/friends and make all their reservations for them. I did this back in '14 when we travelled with one family, and I have the same set up for this coming trip in Aug with another family. Link them as family/friends, and then you can make dining, fastpasses, etc... for them. Pretty much, once the account has been created and the families linked, they wouldn't even have to touch it again. For that matter, you could just set them up one without even telling them and by just logging in and out on your own computer handle the linking of the two accounts. For this upcoming trip, that's basically what we did. The other family was present, but we just did all the setting up, linking and everything from our home computer.

As a bonus, if you're doing the Memory Maker, they benefit as well as your Memory Maker will extend to everyone linked in your family/friends so you'll get all their photos stored in their account as well.

By having their own MDE, then you'll be able to track room charges, dining credits (if on a plan) etc.. for them. Since you'll undoubtedly would have handled the set up of the account for them, you'll have their login info, and can either logout/in back and forth between your account and theirs to check stuff like this, or if you're travelling with a spouse who's also got a smartphone on them, you can log into one account on one device, and the other account on the other device.

I haven't used Mobile Order yet, because my family is not exactly the most patient at stuff like that. Despite the process taking longer, it's much easier on my sanity to just bring them all up to the counter to have them each place their own order. But good to know about the linked credits, as I was hoping the other family, who is big on pre-ordering stuff, might sway my family to leverage Mobile Order on this trip.
 

As PP noted, you can simply link both reservations to your MDE account and manage everything from there. I've done this several times when traveling with "newbies" - it just makes the process so much easier. If you've already link their reservation to a different MDE account, simply link the MDE accounts through Friends and Family and you can manage everything from your account without them ever having to sign into their MDE account. Both DH and I have separate MDE accounts, but I manage everything for our trips through my MDE. It's very easy and you don't have to purchase anything extra.

No worries on that, BOG isn't one of our ADRs. We've already booked a sitting for 8 at Tony's on our MK day, and plan to mostly snack the rest of the day away.

You should be all set then. Be our guest is the only weird one with how you have to do your adr.
 
WOW, I appreciate the responses. I will go the route of trying to link the reservations with my own MDE. Main reason why I'm doing this is because it's difficult to convince someone that's not aware of all the nuances that they need to make an account and then set an alarm to wake up to make reservations - trust me, my parents aren't going to have any part of that. No way they are getting the app... We won't be doing BOG nor on the Dining Plan. Sounds like it's doable from my end.
