Day 8 Wednesday 4/24:
I dont have a ton of pictures from this day so I will do a quick summary & move along
Today was supposed to be our day to go to Animal Kingdom but we had switched it around due to the weather & a cut on Alexs foot. His foot was doing much better so we headed off to Blizzard Beach. This was our first time there. One thing we have figured out is that when we go someplace for the first time, our kids check it out then are done pretty quickly. Knowing this going into things makes it much less disappointing when after just a couple hours they are ready to go. We did enjoy ourselves & Im sure well be back in the future
thought I think I liked Typhoon Lagoon better. Based on rehab schedules, if its warm enough for a waterpark next February, Blizzard Beach will probably be our only choice. Anyway
I did bring a waterproof camera but havent filled it up yet so I havent developed it yet. Sorry no pictures of the morning!
We had planned to take the ski lift up and ride Teamboat Springs first (the family raft ride). Alex was still a bit spooked from getting stuck on one of the solo body slides the previous year at TL and wasnt up for a solo ride. Unfortunately Teamboat Springs wasnt up & running yet. We had two ways down, walk back down or take the mat slides. Zach was freaking out because wed left the goggles in the locker and Alex wasnt sure about the mat slides. After checking them out, Alex opted to ride the mat slides down with Tim. Because the mat slides are face first, and having left the goggles in the locker, Zach opted to walk down to get the goggles. I went with him. After getting the goggles we headed over to the play area. The kids loved this area & may choose BB as their favorite waterpark because of this attraction alone. There was an overhead cargo net to cross the icebergs in the water, a zipline and some small slides. I think I rode down one of the small slides with Zach.
Teamboat Springs opened back up & the boys were willing to wait in line for the chairlift so up we went again. Wed already been there quite a while and all I had ridden was the chairlift twice & one kiddie slide. Luckily Teamboat Springs was still running when we finally got up there. It was a great ride! Next we found the double raft rides & rode down Runoff Rapids. Then we took a spin around the lazy river. Its a long river! I got a little disoriented but we made it most of the way around before getting out. At that point the boys were ready to go. We hadnt even had lunch yet but that was OK we had a big night ahead of us so off we went. We had a decent lunch from the bar & grill at the resort.
This was the night we were meeting back up with Jeff & Karen, along with our niece, K, at a Tampa Bay Rays game. I dont have any notes from that night but do have pictures! The Rays were playing the Yankees, which worked out really well since Tim & Alex are Yankees fans and we dont get to see them play very often. Living in NH, its much easier to see Zachs (and my) favorite
the Red Sox.
A goofy pictures, but heres most of the gang:
K, on the end, then Alex, Tim, Jeff & Zach. And a phone picture of me & Karen:
And now Karen being goofy:
Zach being silly/confused with Alexs Yankees hat on.
The Yankees were behind so Tim & Alex put on their rally caps:
Part way through the game, Jeff started feeling sick so they had to leave. Unfortunately we didnt get to spend the whole game with them but we had a good time. Jeff had hurt his back when they were playing with the boys in the pool earlier in the week. Karen had prescribed his a muscle relaxer
which is what made him feel sick. He ended up having a ruptured disc & needed surgery about a month after we saw them.
Up next: Day 9 - Epcot redo & some friends
