Okay, so I've just started organising bits and pieces for my first ever Disney trip (Yay! ) and have been looking into various restaurants.

Lots of them say they serve their food "family style", and I have no idea what that means! Whatever it is, Australia doesn't serve their food that way! If we do, we must have another name for it....

So, what does family style mean? I get the feeling they just bring out huge slabs of food, and plonk it in the middle of your table.

If that's correct, what happens if you want to dine at that restaurant (like Ohanas, for example), but you're not in a family? It's just my bf and I going, and we certainly won't eat a family size meal!

So... hmmm. Help!? Thankyou! :cheer2:

I'll try to help with this one.

Family style means as if you were sitting at home aroung the table (as opposed to in front of the TV) with the rest of your family...be that two people or twenty.

They will bring out a plate with each of the items on the menu with an appropriate amount of food on it for thenumber of people in your party...and then you pass it around the table to anyone who wants some. If the plate is empty, they get you another plate of that particcular item if you want more.

It is sort of like having Thanksgiving meal at home where the food is on the table in front of the fmaily and then you help yourself.

Hope that helps.

Family style just means that the food is served directly to you table. The food is placed on plates in the middle of the table and each person serves themselves from these plates. It doesnt matter how many people you have in your party. Basically, they will just make your servings smaller. Just remember you can always ask for seconds of anything you like! I hope this helped! Have a great trip.

Excellent, thanks guys!! Very helpful!

I wish we had family style in Australia!! It sounds fun!! Can't wait!
