I am looking to trade our points for a week in the world passport collection. Can anyone reccommend good family friendly destinations on on of the exhanges that they have visited and what they like about it?

Where would you like to go and what type of experience/time of year would you like? What is your family makeup/ages of the children? There are too many variables to make for intelligent suggestions otherwise.

We are looking for a warm weather destinations (i.e. Caribbean or Mexico) when it is cold or colder on the East Coast (i.e. December, March or April). We have a almost 3, 5 and 7 year old. Places with great pools/beaches would be best. Thanks.

Wow, that's a tall order. 5 people with air is a chunk. Assuming the air isn't a detriment, I'd say the Marriott's in Aruba, he Royals in Cancun, Harbourside Atlantis, Paradise Village in Neuvo Vallarta, and a number of HI options are my first thoughts. If air is a major issue, you may want to consider some of the Central to South FL options. Don't forget about DVC VB. But for exchanges I'd say Marriott's Beach Place Towers and Ocean Pointe, the Hyatt's in Key West and West FL, several of the other FL west coast like Captiva/Sanibel, and Galleon in Key West. There are a number of other nice resorts but those will be the majority that will be of DVC quality. Then there's the dessert locations such as Sedona and CA as well as the southern CA coastal areas. Of all listed, Atlantis might be the top choice in many areas but it is very expensive. And all of these choices will be very difficult to get requiring a search at least a year out to even have a chance or else find an owner elsewhere which also opens you up to other resorts no on the DVC list or not in II at all.

Dean,

I noticed quite a few Hyatt Key West weeks in March on II as Getaway weeks. They were priced pretty high, at least $1,400 a week for a cash getaway. This post made me wonder if II ever allows somebody to trade their week for those Getaway weeks instead of using cash.

I think my sister did this last year with her Maui week for a Getaway week - but I think it was within a couple months of check in.

I know it's happened but on a case by case basis usually for short notice or to correct an error on their part. I wouldn't count on it. Ii does purchase inventory for rental from time to time and this seems like the case here.
