You have proven with your first post that you have no problem lying to people to only come back later and say that you were kidding and that now you are telling the truth. Yet, you are surprised that no one believes you now?

Well, nobody's commenting on a "theory". Now, if the original post had been a theory (note lack of quotation marks), then yes, that's what the responses would have been.

But everybody has been commenting on, first, a scenario; and second, the backpedaling by the original poster in a vain attempt to save face.




It would be really great if original posters knew definitions and punctuations before criticizing the content of responses, by the way

I've been responding because it's interesting to me. No one is "saving face". My insults are in response to the insults that were heaped upon me.

Only somebody that was offended would respond the way you did and you would not be offended if this was a test and you expected to get a wide variety of responses including negative ones.

I think it’s time to tell you the truth.

Yesterday, my stepson told me he is preparing a thesis for his psych class regarding "human reaction when dealing with absurd issues". The premise of a fraudulent insurance claim came from an article I had read.

We decided to post the insurance story on a couple of message boards to track responses… the DIS board being one of them. Oddly enough, the DIS board proved to be the most offensive. I had originally suggested this board because of the friendly & positive feedback I have always received. I expected straightforward, honest opinions. What I didn’t expect was the “attacking” nature of your messages.

I should apologize for the validity of my original post. However, it’s unfortunate that my stepson’s paper will consist primarily of the negative and hurtful responses from this board.

Please show a little dignity by not attacking this post, as well.

That was an honest question I asked. Would someone really want to call their insurance company and admit that he/she tried to defraud them?

And yes, if your OP was a complete lie created just to stir the pot (which you've admitted to), then the comment was directed at the made up (fictional) person defrauding their insurance company.

Once again, your reaction to everyone's responses is showing that your original post was really you and not some fictional scenario made up for your "step-son". Anyone who has taken a psych course could see that. Maybe you should check with your "step-son:.

Also, I'm very curious about this supposed thesis. I was a psych major and we only talked about our thesis when we were doing our senior seminar. It was an intense process and everything with human subjects had to go before an ethics review board. This would be an interesting experiment, but it seems that your responses ae invalidating the experiment. It also sounds like you posted it as opposed to your stepson.

What is the purpose of the experiment? What are the variables? What other forums did you post this on? For the experiment to be truly valid, you should have opened a new account with no signature or avatar in each forum.

If it's a true experiment, it would be an interesting one, but I'm having doubts.

More understanding about what?

That we should treat people who are attempting commit fraud or a crime NICER when they ask for sympathy about said fraud crime?

Or that we should be nice when a GROWN man admits he LIED about committing fraud or a crime JUST to see what kind of reaction he could get out of a group of people?

Honestly, I wonder if doing what you did is point worthy, or even BAN worthy...hmmmm...

Oh yes, now it is time to throw religion into it to make yourself seem superior and to try to guilt all the responders.

Sounds like some high school kid got grounded and has to stay in his room all day. Which makes me think that the OP is going to show up here on Monday, running off at the mouth about how his kid hacked his account and posted as him because he was mad at him. Isn't that how these usually end?


Hope you enjoyed your many years here on the Dis board OP. From here on out, this thread will be brought up and you will always be questioned, doubted and looked upon with suspicion. Was it worth it?
