Can anyone tell me what times the various tours actually begin if going to the Great Hope Plantation? There are various ones that range from 3 to 4 1/2 hours in duration, but it doesn't say if it begins first thing. I am assuming all excursions begin as soon as the ship docks and passengers can disembark.

We did FA28 (3.5-4 hours) and left the ship around 10, back at 2:30ish (long bus ride). As a side note, I don't recommend this excursion.

Thanks for the info. What about the excursion do you not recommend? Food? Tour? Bus Ride? Or all of it?

The ride was fairly long, but not too bad; maybe 45 minutes. We arrived at the reception area at Good Hope Estate (translation: gift shop) where we waited another 45 minutes for a mini-bus ride up the hill to the house. At the top of the hill we waited another 15 minutes for the docent to start our tour. The house was poorly maintained and the docent, while very friendly and amiable, wasn't armed with any history of the home or its contents aside from her 'script'. The summary talked about us being fed, which happened...at the end of the tour around 1:30 or so. Yeah, the family was ravenous. This colored our view of it. The jerk chicken was tasty, and the goobah peas were a nice surprise, but at that point we were wolfing it down.

Another wait for the mini bus. Another 30-45 minutes at the bottom of the mountain before the bus ride back.

Lots of waiting for an average house, a late meal and a decent meal. This is, of course, our experience

That is very helpful and good to know. Thanks.

We cruise the last week in April. We will be doing the highlights of Falmouth and Greenwood Great House (FA02) and it's only 3-3.5 hours. Our time is scheduled for 8:30-12:00 pm. We picked this one so we can get back to the ship for lunch.

We will have to check back in with you when you return to see how it went. Have fun!

We had a similar experience and signed up for a painting/pottery excursion. Little did I know that it was a lot of waiting for the right tour bus. Then, everyone ended up at the Good Hope Estate. And, yes, it was very disappointing. We were hoping for something filled with rich history. We waited around for 30 mins until they showed our little group to a little pottery area across from where they dropped us off. Then, waited again after an accumulated 1.5 hours and hundreds of dollars, we sat at a table with paint from what looks like what one would by for painting by numbers that lasted 15 mins. Then, we had a chance to do the spinning on the pottery wheel. Sadly, there was a child who kept throwing temper tantrums and was not allowing other children time for the pottery wheel. We had lunch in the same area as everyone who signed up for other excursions. I did not feel that it was personalized or worth the cost of the excursion. Afterwards, we purchased a Jamaica shirt, shorts, bag of coffee beans, icecream, and went back to pick up our cups. BTW, we painted pottery that was already pre-baked so none was made by any cruise excursion participants. We rushed back on the bus heading back to the ship and was truly disappointed. With that, once we arrived back, like myself, other families were upset over this stop. When I boarded the ship, I requested for a refund and wrote out a 2.5 page comment/complaint form.

I forgot the exact name of the excursion, but I recommend another type of excursion instead of this one.

Disappointing indeed! I don't think they have the pottery option any longer, unless I am missing it on the list. Seems like all excursions involve some amount of waiting as they sort passengers, load buses, etc. This is why for short and easy excursions, like a beach visit or a nearby activity, we do on our own and make sure we are back in time. Less waiting and usually lower cost. This type of adventure requires to be part of a group though. I wish they would have a section to review them on the Port Adventures page. That would help as you are deciding. Don't see that happening though since that would require someone to moderate and it could look negative for the cruise line. That is why I come to this site! Thanks for your info.

Hi... wonder how was the FA02 tour? I am planning to do this with my upcoming cruise but wouldn't find any review or so for this.
