Hi Everyone,

We (me, DS 32, DD28) are visiting the week of November 15 - 23. We were supposed to visit the beginning of May, but we have a major illness in our family and had to cancel last minute. We were doing a split stay using DVC points: SS the first half, then AKL. My daughter was really looking forward to staying at AKL, so I booked that for the second half of this trip. I was able to get the bounce back offer, since we forfeited our May stay. Wasn't sure if I wanted to stay there the whole trip as it is so far away from everything.

For the first half, I booked Caribbean Beach. Booking agent said to stay in Aruba or Trinidad to be near Riviera. He kinda talked me into it. I've never stayed there before. I am second guessing myself a bit. I really liked POFQ last time I stayed there. Also toying with the idea of Beach Club or Boardwalk, although they are much more expensive.

Questions:
  • Does Disney normally come out with Fall Discounts for rooms? If so, when do they normally drop so I don't miss out. I would re-book CB to one of the deluxe hotels if there was a decent discount.
  • I know the skyliner is a bonus, but other than that, is CB a good place to stay? How likely would it be that I receive the requested areas? Is it noisy? I loved POFQ because it was small, quiet and laid back.
  • For those who have stayed at CB, is there a better area to request?
It has been a VERY difficult year so far. I needed the May vacation. By the time November rolls around, I may be desperate for vacation. This is also DS first visit. Since we are all adults, I though it might be fun to stay close to Epcot for Food and Wine. Although I've been to WDW a few times, I've never ventured to the boardwalk area.

Any suggestion, hints, experiences you have, please let me know. I need all the advice I can get!!!

Thanks in advance!

Discounts could come (and go) at anytime. I’m anticipating a new one soon - it’s been a while and it seems attendance is down. As far as already liking POFQ, you might enjoy another stay as they just updated all of their rooms this year. Carribean Beach is nice but such a big resort. Lots of walking.

Actually the only thing AKL is "far" from is MK. It's closer to AK, HS, DS and Epcot than the MK area resorts. Those are actually far from everything except MK.

Our 2 favorite locations are Jamaica 45 and Aruba 51. Both are just a short stroll across the bridge to Main Feature Pool, Food Court and the Front Desk. Most even closer than some of the Preferred Rooms. And they are close to the Skyliner.

We love it! It's our favorite Moderate by far. It is so quiet and has such a chill vibe, such a great escape from the craziness of the parks.
  • How likely would it be that I receive the requested areas?
Depends on occupancy and how many others requested the same.
  • Is it noisy? I loved POFQ because it was small, quiet and laid back.
Not noisy at all. Actually we found it even more peaceful and laid back than POFQ.
  • For those who have stayed at CB, is there a better area to request?
We think Jamaica and Aruba are the best locations, not far from anything. What type of room did you book? That will determine what areas you can request.

This is the fifth year I've done a solo during the week of Veteran's Day (Nov 11) and I don't remember ever seeing a room-only discount. I usually use a bounceback offer for my room during that time period. I think one year there was a discount offer for booking a room and 4 day park hopper but can't remember the details as it was out of my budget-range.

Thanks for your replies. I will keep the CB reservation. We will be flying in from Seattle, so won't arrive until evening. I just don't want a room far away from anything, but we will make the best of it, even if we need to walk!

I may use the money I save by staying moderate to purchase MVMCP tickets, if available.

I think its standard. Would it be better to upgrade to preferred if I can?
In our opinion, Standard is the best option. Standard will put you in either Jamaica or Aruba. I would request Jamaica 45 or Aruba 51. Both those are close to the Skyliner and the Main Feature Pool, Food Court and the Front Desk.

Preferred will get you close to the Main Feature Pool, Food Court, etc but a real hike to the Skyliner.

Thank you! I'll just keep it the way it is.

BTW, where is the best place to catch the bus at CB? I know it has an internal loop, so want to make sure to be able to get on, if needed.

Every island has their own stop. So if you're in Jamaica, catch it at the Jamaica stop. Aruba, the Aruba stop. Good thing is that during the morning rush, they send 2 buses for each park. One will pick up Jamaica and Aruba then head to the park. The other bus will pick up the other stops.
