Fall-ing for Stormalong Bay - A BC PTR for Fall 2012

I am doing great. Done with physical therapy and have healed very well. thanks for the concern and compliment. It is easy to be a great mom when you have a great daughter.

We have stayed at the ALK and loved it. Hoping to be able to stay again in July 2013. We had the savanna view. I would get up in the early morning to see the animals coming out being fed. It was fantastic to see.

I know my mom must be saying that all the time. :thumbsup2

You know, I kept getting up early for rope drops and EMHs while at AKL but didn't spend too much time looking at the animals. I didn't even go out into the savannah area at the back of the lobby until the final day, and that was because I had a ton of time to kill and aching legs that needed to SIT DOWN.

I liked my view, but I do bet that the savannah view trumped it.

Your day by day plans look great! I love DHS at night! :lovestruc

Why don't you do the Segway tour the morning you have Epcot scheduled? If you do the first tour of the day, you should have enough time to hang out in Epcot after!

I LOVE the Morocco pavilion! I always spend a lot of time there now, it's so peaceful and beautiful in there! And Japan and America are nice too!

You should definitely try a segway tour. They are lots of fun. I haven't done the one in Disney, but I did one in Chicago and it was tons of fun. The only thing is they do not allow you to hop on and off of them, because that requires training (even though that sounds like a joke, it's not. :rotfl2:)

BC is a great choice. We haven't stayed there since 2003, but it's one of my favorite resorts.

The only thing about doing the Segway on my Epcot morning is that I will have been at MK until at least midnight after a travel day and I probably won't be hopping out of bed or anything. I guess I could maybe do the latest Segway tour of the day (9:30 I think), roll out of bed 20 minutes before it starts, and run to the IG. Where do those tours leave from, any idea? I'll have to look that up.

I have seen beautiful pics of Morocco AND Japan; I am DEFINITELY going to make my way over there this year.

I remember the pics from your Chicago Segway tour and it looked like alot of fun!! Oh boy, if I can't randomly leap from the Segway I'm about to crash, there might be trouble. ha, just kidding, I'm actually pretty darn coordinated and do pretty good with new stuff so I really want to do this one!!

Can't wait for BC! So excited.

Hi! I'm here, caught up and subbed. Nice dates ;)

Thanks; thought you'd like those dates! :cheer2: I called Disney about a LM room at AoA on my last night just today (off work and getting some stuff done), but they said there were no regular rooms available right now! Just suites! I will try again in a month or so just to see; I think it would be fun to go swim in that Nemo pool. :)

I'm sitting at home alone on a Friday night (I really, really need some friends) while DBF is out with a friend, and daydreaming about being at Disney. Here's what I'm most looking forward to.

1) Epcot Segway tour - though is would be the first thing to get the boot if my budge got tight, I'm really looking forward to the possibility of scooting around Epcot on a Segway.
2) SE - aw, I love SE.
3) Gran Fiesta Tour - of course! Nothing, NOTHING, says Disney to me like Gran Fiesta Tour. It's a lifetime favorite (I LOVED EL RIO DEL TIEMPO); I would probably break down and sob if they removed it. Sadly, I'd probably continue to sob for many months. It means that much to me. Go figure.
4) ToT - I love making myself ride this, even though the first time when I'm solo I'm usually about to pee on myself.
5) TSMM - this ride totally makes me feel like I'm sticking my tongue out at my coworkers stuck at our corporate job, laughing that they're in the office in their cubes while I'm playing a 3D video game and cackling like a madwoman.
6) BC, of course! I can't wait to be within walking distance to HS and Epcot. I LOVED CR. This will be great!
7) HM. Enough said. It's HM.
8) SPLASH! It was down everytime I tried to ride it back in January, and I've got great memories on it.
9) BTMRR - same reason as #8.
10) TTA - OR the WWPM. Most relaxing journey in all of WDW, hands down. Who doesn't love to move people? WHO? I dare you to answer that question!?!

Still here. Still planning. Some things are going on that might be really tough, but I'm still going to be staying at BC! Worst case scenario is three nights at BC and three nights elsewhere, most likely is 5 nights BC, 1 night elsewhere.

Well, you know that I love to move people. :thumbsup2

Hey, we should definitely meet up sometime, seeing as though we live close to each other. And it only makes sense because of our mutual love of Disney. ;)

Who DOESN'T love to move people? Especially on the DIS. :confused3

I'd be game for meeting up some time for sure, since my current lineup of things to do only includes Disney planning, Disney TR reading, working, Disney budgeting, and Diablo III. Hm, whatever would we talk about?

joining in...I think we are down there at the same time :)

Though things are a little up in the air, I've been contemplating adding a day at a value resort and going to Universal. This would make my trip 6 nights and 7 days. I have several different "points" on credit cards and two of them offer a day at Universal; I'd really like to ride some of the bigger rides and check out things like the Shrek show, or Spiderman, or the Mummy (that looks awesome), and of course, WWOHP and Forbidden Journey.

However, the chances are pretty good I'll be alone on this trip. I wonder how I'll feel riding the big-boy rides without anyone there to "encourage" (read: force) me to ride. I'll pretty much ride anything but I usually need a little nudge to get going the first time.

Also, six nights? Alone? I was just fine with three, and I thought five would be perfect but I'd probably be a little homesick by the end. Now I'm looking at adding another full day? Still - it's not like I would be a big baby and ruin my last days there if I got a little homesick.

Also, I read that the lines at Universal can be brutal and I'm not paying extra to skip them; however, I sometimes use a GAC in the longer lines at Disney and I don't know that Universal has anything like that I could utilize when the wait times goes past 30-45 minutes. Or, maybe a "bathroom pass" if I have to leave the line and come back? Disney doesn't have anything like that.

For now it's just an idea. But I'm thinking about it.

I say go for it, but only because I love Butterbeer! Hahaha, I'm going back to Universal this upcoming trip too. Just can't keep away from the "other castle".

I loved your list of Disney favorites.

El Rio del Tempo- such a beautiful ride. I still ride the Gran Fiesta, but the ducks ruined the ride. No offense intended to other readers of your report.

PeopleMover and Space Ship Earth and Big Thunder Mountain are other favorites.

We strayed to the Dark Side last summer. Had a great time...

The Mummy rocks!!!

Loved WWoHP- I'm a huge fan and the area is just magical. HA!

Let us know what you decide!

I completely missed you commenting here! I have had a lot going on with possible back-and-forth of the trip so I haven't come back to the PTR because I wasn't sure what was going to happen.

As for my beloved Gran Fiesta Tour, I really loved the original El Rio del Tiempo. But I also very much loved The Three Caballeros and all the music as a child (Os Quindins de Yaya is my current cellphone ringtone), so I love the ride either way! I went to watch the old version on youtube; in my personal opinion, the new version is a lot more upbeat.

DBF has decided not to come with me. I had told him (since he doesn't like the whole "being herded like cattle" thing) that he could come with me, hang out at the resort and pool while I was in the parks in the morning, and then we'd go do stuff at night. I think he's more the "beach vacation" type, which is very disappointing but I can't hold it against him - his family just never took him to WDW as a kid and he didn't get it in his blood like I did. I was hoping he'd decide to come, but now I know I will probably be solo. It's more sad because this will probably really be the only vacation I take this year because I just got a new job; I was hoping he'd be there. But who knows? Maybe there will be some vacation time for me.

I'm trying to decide now whether to invite my mom. I'd pay for the room and tickets, she already has a flight credit she has to use. But she has early stage emphysema, and I'm concerned that the heat and humidity would be awful on her. She really reacts to heat, and I don't want to invite her and her come and be terrible the whole time. She would be miserable if she was stuck in the room, or holding me up, and I don't want to be irritated with her for something she can't control, or walking around worried about her the whole time. I am still figuring it out.

But I am pretty sure I am locked in on the dates and the resort (barring a hurricane of course!). I thought maybe I'd stay elsewhere to save money, but the fact is that I have the money and I want to stay at BC, dammit. Here's a HUGE pic I took of the pool when DBF and I went to YMS for dinner back in 2010.

I think with my rather minimal time, I'm thinking I'm going to nix US. I'd like to go, but there is SO much I want to do at Disney that it would be silly to go, by myself, over to US. However, this plan might change.

So I'm still thinking and planning. I believe I'm going to call and try to reserve the Epcot Segway tour for Monday September 17th. Yes, it will be a rough morning - I will have traveled the day before and then been at EMH at MK until midnight, but my plan is to bus over to MK that night (to avoid the TTC) and then catch a cab at the Contemporary back to BC if the bus line is too long. Therefore, I'm hoping to be sleeping at 1 a.m., which would make getting up at 8 the next morning not too awful. I could come back after the tour and nap if needed. I love the early mornings, but I have a few late EMHs planned this trip so we'll see what happens.

One more thing I'm contemplating if I'm solo is trying this: http://touringplans.com/walt-disney-world/touring-plans/ultimate.

I made a spreadsheet of the attractions at MK that I think I could make it through with no problem, and I got up to 57 rides/attractions. It might be kind of fun, though it will all depend on my stomach issues and crowds for the day. The rules say no GACs and I typically use one for very long lines (so, pretty much only TSMM and Peter Pan, haha) - but if I hit the rides that usually have long lines early, I might be able to pull it off. Again, just thinking it over.

Ok, that's all for now.

That is so great that you don't have to do WDW alone even though you would probably have an awesome time.

Can't wait for more.

Shameless cat picture, in hopes that my lack of cute kids doesn't keep anyone away:

He's wearing his pirate collar; I also have for him a gray plaid one, a reddish orange one, and a bright yellow one with bumble bees on it. He has no idea the things I do to him.

I don't' know what I'm doing yet; have to decide. I should make a decision quick! I'm totally ok with going alone; was kind of looking forward to it. But I'm going to really think this weekend about inviting my mom along. If she comes, I'll probably scrap the Epcot tour since I'll be putting out extra for tickets. Just don't know what will happen yet!

I don't want to wish my summer away, but I AM excited for a bit of a longer trip! My Nov 2010 trip was six nights, my Oct 2011 trip was four nights (and the first night, I got in really late!), and my November trip was three nights (wasn't sure how I'd do on my own; was silly to worry). So five nights should work out pretty well if I'm solo. If mom comes, I might extend to six nights and have a night or two to myself.

Ack!

I have never done WDW alone so I can't speak from experience but knowing the kind of person that I am if I had the chance to go and couldn't find anyone to go with me (will probably never happen with my crazy D family) I would for sure go. Just being there and soaking in the atmosphere would be company enough for me. Whatever decision you make, solo or not I know you will have a great time...... :thumbsup2
