What’s for Dinner Tonight?

GO PATS!!

Saturday we (my sister, BIL, DH, and I) ended up hitting a couple of happy hours (Atchafalaya and 4141) for noshies and drinks. We had crawfish boiled peanuts, whipped feta, charbroiled oysters, shrimp beignets, and loaded fries to go with our cocktails. We finished out the evening with pizza at NOLA Brewing and Pizza. It was a pretty nice afternoon and fortunately our driver isn't "big" into drinking so no worries about driving. This afternoon we'll troll around the French Quarter and Uber home if needed. No idea where supper will be. My sister has been unemployed since her agency folded 18 months ago and BIL has just learned that his law firm is shutting down within the next few months, so we are trying to show them a good time (on our dime) while they are trying to figure out finances for the duration, until he finds another job, so supper might be someplace nice.

Tomorrow DH and I head for Orlando for 4 nights at Saratoga Springs resort (no park tickets, just relaxing, eating good stuff, visiting with friends).

Bad grrl today.
Spent the entire day wandering the Upper Westside doing a good imitation of shopping till I dropped. Oops, actually D did the hard work, I just get pushed around, lol.
Anyway, bought wicker storage baskets at Pottery Barn and Target, contemplated buying new tableware for the Lunar New Year but decided (wisely) that new napkins would be enough.
Then up to 81st Street to restock on goodies from Zabar’s. Had planned to buy some smoked fish from Murray’s Sturgeon but decided that the poached salmon with watercress sauce from down the street was enough.

D. and I treated ourselves to Ollie’s Noodle Shop for lunch/dinner : cold sesame noodles, roast pork and chicken, sautéed long beans, and a Sichuan mixed protein dish with veggies. Of course it was too much food for us so we took the remains back home.

Next time I go to NYC I’m asking you for restaurant recommendations ! You sure know your food!

Friday night we had burgers and tater tots.
Last night we usually go out but I started not feeling so great I knew something was coming. Ugh!! We ordered Chinese.
Today we usually have family lunch but since I’m sick and my sister wasn’t going to make it that was canceled.
Tonight DH will be at the Patriots game! Go Pats!!!
I’ll probably have soup. 😩
Sorry you're not feeling well. I hope the Pats give you a win to lift your spirits.

Your posts are making me want to go in search of crawfish this week. We love them!

I made Boneless Pork chops in the air fryer. I had some Mcormick No salt Garlic and Herb seasoning in a shaker bottle. I was looking online for air fryer recipes to see how long to cook them and There was one that used olive oil brushed on them and then a dry rub so I used that seasoning. They came out really good. I made some egg noodles and some carrots to go with it.

We had dinner at Drago's in the French Quarter tonight. We started by sharing a dozen charbroiled oysters in garlic butter sauce with french bread- omg, there are no words! I had grilled shrimp with risotto, grilled tomato slices, and spinach; DH had chicken/andouille gumbo, BIL had grillards&grits, and my sister had roasted duck leg quarter with oysters over pasta with a cheesy cream sauce. It was pretty good, but the service was lacking (they left the oyster platter with empty shells, garlic butter, and 4 used plates in the middle of the table, didn't remove them until he brought the bill, for example). Overall we've had a better time at the Metaire location, but we were in the Quarter, had visited a couple of happy hours, and decided it would be better if BIL waited until after supper (without cocktails or wine) to drive. I'm not pleased with the service for the price, but the food was good.
