Fall Festival

As fall is almost here, there will be some fall festivals and state fairs. I plan on taking my boys to one of the many fairs they have coming here in Georgia. Does anyone else like the festivals and state fairs where they live? What is your favorite thing about going? For me it has to be the funnel cakes.

Our state fair just ended on Monday. We went on the first day. It was the first time the kids had been to the state fair. We always went to the county fair in our old town though.

I love it!! I am already so excited! I can't wait to go out in the crisp Fall air and do some shopping! (Fall is my absolute favorite season!)

By me there (I think it is in Lahaska, PA) is a shopping area called Peddlers Village. Small quaint shops, beautiful foliage. and they also have a scarecrow display for the fall. Some of the scarecrows are unbelievable!

We have several orchards around us that do fall family fun weekends. It's all good wholesome entertainment. Apple and pumpkin picking, hay rides, mazes, barnyard visits, jug bands and great farm food like cider and donuts. We go just about every nice weekend.

On the first day the really feels like fall I make a big pot of chili and get carmeled apples from the store or orchard.

We have a fair around here (within 1hr of us) almost every weekend. There is a fair this weekend that is about 45 minutes away from us this weekend. We have been volunteers of this fair for the past 10yrs or so. We love it! We either do the main food both or sell ride tickets.

The one in our town is the last weekend of September. It is held from Friday till Sunday. We just moved to this town a year ago. The kids get that Friday off from school! When I saw this last year I was suprised! Hopefully we can volunteer at this one.

For the past 20 years, I have been actively involved in the Yankee Peddler Festival, a colonial craft show that had its start in 1976. All of the craftspeople and workers are dressed in period costumes. The autumn air is filled with the smells of food cooked over open fires, the sounds of dulcimers playing, and the occasional musket being fired. This is my favorite time of year and I relish the opportunity to spend three weekends outside from sunrise to sunset just soaking it all in.

One of the local elementary schools holds an Annual Fall Festival ever year. We really enjoy bringing our youngest.

Hey minnieandme! As a fellow Georgian I must recommend the Georgia National Fair in Perry GA!!! I live in Atlanta but my husband and I go down every year. Its really great! There are so many things to do and see---all kinds of crafts, animals (I love the bunnies! And the llamas!), free music performers, rides, laser show, fireworks every night, great food, etc. etc. My husband talked about it so much last year that a couple of his co-workers went down too! I have been to other fairs closer to the Atlanta area, but they just never seem as good.

Anyway, have fun at whatever fair you attend!! I love festival season!!!
