Hi... I'm going to try to book our airfare by myself for the first time for our early October trip to WDW. I've been keeping an eye on prices and they've gone up a bit since we first decided on this week and booked our hotel. I've held off so that friends of ours that are considering coming don't have to fly alone if we book now.

I've noticed a bunch of summer flight sales for various airlines. Is there any hope of similar sales popping up for Fall travel? I'm starting to get scared that the fares will just continue to go up and I'll end up not being able to afford going! :confused3

I booked our trip last feb for Oct but in August is when the deals came out. Hopefully this helps you out!

i was thinking of holding out till about August so there might hopefully be some sales and if not just taking what i can get.

thanks!

I agree. We went end of Sept in 2003, and the fares went way up in May and stayed that way all during the summer...came down a little in July(enough for me to get scared and book my tickets) but then they came down way more. And I do remember it probably being around August when this happened...
I am in the same boat, and I am scared too, even though I knew what happened before, no one knows what can happen with the gas prices etc...

But be careful and don't wait too long. Our tickets for late Oct/beginning of November were about the same price they are now -- HIGH! We booked ours about a month ahead.

Airtran is have a fare sale on flights through November 8th. According to the email I received today the lowest prices are on Tuesday & Wednesdays.

Good Luck

Thank you so much for your input. I think I'm gonna take the risk and wait till late Aug/early Sept to book. :bitelip: :scared:

I'm waiting also. :hourglass

Last year there were great rates on Jetblue and Song. I believe they had rates as low as $39.00 and $49.00 each way.

klwdisney,
Not sure exactly where in MA you are located, but, Southwest flies out of
of Logan and also Providence RI and I believe somewhere in southern NH.
They currently have October fares on sale for really great prices. Website
is www.southwest.com and it's very simple to book online with them. Also,
if your fare goes down further, they will give you a credit for a future flight for the difference. We fly them out of Philadelphia and I can honestly say their
people are great.....customer service is among the best I've seen. The only thing some people don't like is the fact they do not have assigned seating.
Categories are A, B. and C and if you print your boarding passes right after midnight on the day of travel you shouldn't have any trouble getting an A.
Also, if you are traveling with a child younger than 4 you can preboard (only
parents of child and any siblings) We've never had a problem getting seats
together and most times there are six of us.

Just checked SW out of Providence for early October.......it seems most of the good prices are gone already.......a few left though ....lowest seems to be
about $175.00 pp rd trip, not optimum times though.

We travelled to MCO last October on JetBlue and paid $110.00 roundtrip,a couple of years ago we flew similar times on AA and paid $105.00. Since this is a semi-regular trip now (every other year) I keep track of the fares. It depends on what time of the month you are travelling. Columbus Day weekend does not usually have the big discounts. Also I find that flying to and from on Tues, Wed, and Thurs gives better prices than the other days. Another factor is the travel business is much better this year as opposed to the last couple of years (post 9/11) and not sure if you can count on these deep discounts. Jet Blue is $155 right now for the days we would fly if we went this year and I would probably buy my tickets now.August is when the deep discounts usually come out for October.Hope this helps! ::MinnieMo

We are going the first week of October (10/1 - 10/8). I'm gonna take my chances and wait till next month I think (august). I've been checking all the airlines every day using kayak.com travel search engine or directly thru the sites. I've researched leaving the night before and leaving from different airports. But I think I'd just rather stick to my original plan and hope the fares go down next month!

I don't know if this helps, but southwest has some good prices out of Manchester NH if that's close enough to you. They've had $79 one way tickets, and when I looked yesterday, they still had quite a bit of availability for October, but don't have any later dates out yet.

Good luck!

Jen

well manchester airport and hartford airport are 1 1/2 - 2 hrs from me. logan and providence are about an hour, so i'd rather stick with one of those 2.
