Fall/Fall Advantage 2008

You can definitely get by without a car. I have not had a car with me for all 3 (soon to be 4) CPs.

ok so disney said they mailed out my letter on monday, and i have yet to get it. Its been like 6 weeks since my interview. I just want to know already what position i got.

they told you when they mailed the letter? thats cool. I didn't expect that. I think if they mailed it monday you should definitely get it next week. Dont worry it will be there before you know it.

I had the same thing with kilimanjaro safari. I want to work in the animal kingdom with the animals one day and I told her that, so she was asking me if I could handle the spiel and driving of the vehicle.

I think it would be nervous having to memorize something like that, but I really would like it!

Oh BTW http://cdouglashoward.com/html/interactive/kili_inter.html
I say this and thought it was so cool. I didnt know this is how they trainined people.

Oh Goodness! I didn't think I'd ever see that again! Not sure I want to, either...haha. KSR is a great place to be and just about everyone there--at least when I was--is really great. It was a challenge, but a nice one!

Anyhow, I saw this thread pop up and just thought I'd say hello. I did my CP in Spring of '07, and had previously been accepted as a performer for Spring '03, but unfortunately had to decline, after accepting, but I was honest with them, so they were really wonderful about it and it didn't hurt me coming later :-)

I may have a chance to meet some of you come November as I am moving back to FL and resuming work at WDW. I truly loved my CP! It can be the time of your life...I met some of the VERY BEST friends I've ever had there...

Congratulations to everyone who has already been accepted and best of luck to those of you who are waiting!

thanks! I'm glad you had a great time! Thanks for the info!

hey does anybody know... if i said that fall was my first choice and fall advantage was my second choice...how does that work, if i really want advantage??? do i have to call them or anything????thnx guys

Yes, I would recommend calling the CP Office. If people want Advantage, they typically get it, but they have to know that you want it.

In a way, I feel like this is contacting them if any info in your application has changed, which they tell you to do.

Good Luck!

...

And you're very welcome for the limited info I posted! If anyone has any questions about anything please feel free to ask or pm... I'll help if I can!:flower3:

HI! Thats so cool you worked on Kilmanjaro.. Im auditioning but my 2nd choice is attractions and i told my interviewer how much I would love to do that attraction ( which Im sure she heard from a lot of people lol). Was there a lot of CPs working at that attraction? or are they selective?

I can't go into too much detail on here, but I will say this. Last spring, we had TONS of CPs at Safaris. Assume that at any given time there are about 40 trucks out on the course and around 15 people on associated "land" positions (greeter, FP, loading/unloading, etc.), not to mention all of the managers, coordinators, and the like. I believe that around 300 people are based at Safaris, if memory serves me, and so it gets a lot of CP's every program. Despite the large number of Safari people it really becomes a very close group. At least it was when I was there.

It's 2 weeks of training, at least...specifically regarding the attraction, though you'll have more with Traditions, DAKlimation, etc.

If you do get Safaris, I don't think you will be disappointed! It really is one of the best CP positions available. Especially out of the spieling roles because it's a little bit different everytime!

After 5 months, I did get a little tired of it, but that was true for almost everyone I knew in almost every type of role. It was getting hotter and the crowds were getting larger and grumpier and you have to learn to work through it with grace. This is not a stress-free job! You have MAJOR responsibility as a Safari Guide: to the guests, the animals, the habitat, your vehicle, and your co-workers. Safety is a huge factor and there wasn't a day that I went out there and didn't worry about being termed for something out of my control (i.e. an animal darts in front of your truck and gets injured or a guest who refuses to follow safety instructions). There are specific guidelines for everything.

Still, all in all, I truly believe this is an amazing job and I'm grateful to have had a chance to do it. Not many people in the world ever see those animals close-up in a natural type of environment. Okay maybe for a few minutes if they ride the safari or go to the African savannah, but working there, you see EVERYTHING.

The best part for me was watching the babies grow up a little everyday. Incredible! I had a baby giraffe stick her head in the cab of my truck one day! Literally, less than 2 feet from my face. I'll be honest, I was absolutely terrified (:scared1: ), but in awe at the same time!

I was really interested in this attraction and excited that she was asking me if I could handle it because I took it as a good sign. Now I think Im even more excited. But you dont find out what attraction your put at until you get there right?

Yes. You don't find out exactly where you are working until your second day there.

Correct. You will find out once you arrive. It is annoying leading up to it, but as long as you're open to possibilities it's sure to be an okay time. I was 99% sure I was at a spieling role before I went down there. You see I was one of the first to apply and interview for Spring '07...way back in August of '06! SEVEN days later, I recieved a phone call from my recruiter telling me that because it was so early, packets wouldn't be sent out for a few weeks, but they wanted to let me know I had been accepted for operations! She said that although she couldn't give me any specifics, she knew I would be VERY happy with my role...*hint, hint* . I thought for sure I was going to Great Movie Ride as I was theatre major and considering film school, but they really surprised me!

I had never been to DAK! So my first day of DAK training, "DAKlimation" was my first time in the park and I got to learn all the design and concept secrets. It was really great. Jeremy did my DAKlimation training. He was awesome, but unfortunately, I don't think he's there anymore. He had been at DAK since it opened and left for Epcot (maybe?) towards the end of my program, so some of you may work with him there.

BTW, I met a ton of people here before going down and they were some of the first people I met up with down there. I can't say that we all hit it off in person, but 2 of my best friends in the world I met on here or one of the other groups, like the ones people are setting up on facebook and stuff. We met online and truly, the 3 of us became the very best of friends...even roommates! So get chatting with each other...it makes the first few weeks a lot of fun and who knows, you just might make friends for life!
