Fall Advantage 2011 :)

Hey guys! I am a hopeful too! My name is Caitlin, I live in IL. I SO want to get into the program for Fall 2011 - don't the applications come out soon?! Last year I think it was Jan 20th (been watching old vlogs today! ;D) I can't wait!!! I want to apply asap because I can't stand the waiting. I've been watching a few newer vlogs from hopefuls for Fall, but I'm too chicken to make my own before I get accepted, lol. I hope the time flies for us all!
:thumbsup2

:welcome: Caitlin! Yes- apps went up then and we're expecting them to go up either that day or the 21st.

Hey Kaitlyn, I'm Caitlin...lol, I think there's another one on here somewhere too ;) Noticed you live in Arkansas, my dad's in the Air Force and I used to live at Little Rock AFB when I was a kid.
I know what you mean, I really want the apps to come out NOW!!! Can't wait!

BTW, I just joined the FB page - very cool!

Waaah you guys I'm so conflicted! Fall 11 would be perfect for me but I just learned that my cousin is getting married in Arizona on New Years Eve this year. And of course that's something I can't miss... but I would be so sad if that was the one thing keeping me from doing the program... D:

While it is understandable that you are anxious to apply, don't rush to apply the first chance you have with the mentality that you have an advantage over anyone or that you will have an offer earlier. There is nothing wrong with applying early, but it totally isn't necessary.

They will stop interviewing in April. They allocate spots on the program throughout their recruiting timeframe (they don't give out all of the jobs at the beginning and they do wait list people).

Following the telephone interview, someone could be told that they got in or that they were rejected. They could also be pended. This is the wait list I referenced earlier. The pending people are given a date that they will receive a final decision by at the latest. This is usually a week or so after they have completed their last presentation and interview. Pending people can find out a final decision at any time. Some have to wait longer than others.

This past semester more than a handful who interviewed the first week that they were available ended up having to wait until December before they were informed of a final decision (some made it in, some didn't).

The notification process is outlined here:
https://www.wdwcollegeprogram.com/sap/its/mimes/zh_wdwcp/students/faqs/faq_notification_process.html

Sadly, although Disney clearly asked pending people not to contact them asking for an update, many ignored this direction and called/emailed over and over and over again. Some bragged about intentionally ignoring what they were told (posting "I know they said not to, but I just couldn't stand it") and also complained when they weren't given any info over the phone (go figure). Although I have no way to be certain, I have a very strong feeling that ignoring Disney's direction did not work in their favor.

My point is that if you are so totally excited and anxious to just apply, you may want to hold off until a bit later (like early March) in case you get pended. That way you can balance out your excitement between applying and receiving your notification and fight the urge to call every day and ask "Did I get it?".

Of course, if you think you can manage some self control and wait until Disney contacts you like they ask everyone applying to do, then there is nothing to worry about. Also, you may be one of the lucky ones who does get the final decision without being pended.

I really hate to see people who want to do the program so badly (and would probably be fantastic Cast Members) screw stuff up for themselves due to their excitement.

I have heard this too but I've also heard about someone who had the very first phone interview and was notified 10 days later that he got it...I've asked this question on FB and that was the answer I got. I'm really not sure that there's any real sure fire way to get anything...if I apply early, apparently, I get a pending? or if I wait then the spots that I want get filled up. So, I'm not sure what to do, but thinking of those spots getting filled and the people who were some of the first to get interviewed and got it...not sure!!! Anyway, thanks for caring so much!

There is nothing wrong with applying as soon as apps become available. I think it helps you rest easy because you've gotten it over with ahead of time and have a better pick of arrival/departure dates once you're accepted (unless you are a rare case who takes forever to be handled). The reason why it often takes "long" for the first people who apply to hear back is because the app processing doesn't even start until weeks after the completed apps start coming in. You can't get a response if they haven't even started evaluating people yet. This is why so many of the first people end up waiting the full announced 3-4 weeks to hear back. You do not get a pending for applying early. You get pendings for various reasons and applying early is definitely NOT one of them. There are several people on this board who applied the first week apps were up then heard back about 3 weeks later with full acceptances. Just because some people got pending doesn't mean others didn't get accepted just as others got rejected. Hopefully this helps.

....Hey Cait! I'm Derrick im the one you talked to on facebook today lol... yeah I'm with Tinkermouse.... if disney wants you they will take you... if they are unsure you will get pending... it has nothing to do with waiting to see who else will come....If they like you they are going to take you if you apply on the first day... or the last...

Really?

They rate each interview and that rating determines what they do with someone.

If someone doesn't do an outstanding job in their interview, but didn't do horrible, they will be pended. People can also be pended due to background checks, former cast member rehire paperwork, only wanting an audition, holding a few people back to give them jobs that people declined or didn't accept by their deadlines. Giving an average interview is definitely among the reasons.

Not everyone who applies the first chance they can will be pended. But some definitely will. Doesn't really have to do with the timing of when they applied. It has to do with how well they did in the actual phone interview.

Feel free to verify this with the recruiting office wdw.college.recruiting@disney.com

Hey guys! Hopefully just a few more days!!

Anyone else TERRIFIED for the web-interview? Last time I applied (for Spring 09 and then Fall 09) that wasn't there and so I have NO experience to go on. I was accepted before for Spring Advantage 09 but I had to turn it down because I couldn't take a semester off, and now I'm so nervous for some reason I won't pass the web interview and then they won't even consider me........even though a couple of years ago I was good enough to work with them! Without a doubt I'm most nervous about this.

Omg I'm wondering about that too, last time I did this there was no Web interview, that's totally new, and apparently if you don't pass it no phone interview ):
I'm most nervous about it too, even though I have ALREADY worked for them. My best friend is applying as well and interviews scare the crap out of her.:scared1:

Hey everyone! The applications will be out soooon and I am getting veryy anxious! :yay: soo i have been going over the different roles and could use some advice. By looking through allllll of the threads on here i pretty much know alot about all of the roles but what i am wondering is what order i should put my choices in to give me the best shot at getting in for sure!! (hopefully for sure) lol.

So i have (in ABC order)
Attractions
BBB
Character attendent
Entertainment
Life guard
Vacation planner

I know that they always need attractions... BBB is sort of limited... entertainment is hit or miss...i just really dont know!!!

I really want to do BBB so I plan on putting it first. Put them in the order of what you would prefer, from most wanted to least wanted. Life Guard is also a pretty good job, all the ones I knew when I was down there pretty much loved it, but during down time I think they make you help out around the resorts. Put them from most wanted-least wanted, that's the best advice I can give you.:confused3

just so you know it doesnt matter what order you put them in.... if you select a role you are fair game to get it.... your best chance of being selected is to select all of the roles on the checklist..... other than that the order is irrelevant and from my experience they tend to put you in the opposite place you want anyway haha.... i didnt even select qsfb last time and thats what they gave me... so it really doesnt matter
