How cool! I have always wanted to go on a cruise never mind a DISNEY cruise!!

Hi to everyone, just a little introduction from me: My name is Becca, I'm a sophomore in college, and it's looking like Fall/Fall Advantage 2011 will be the best time for me to go down there! I'm pretty sure my school doesn't give credit, but I have enough credit from AP to take a semester off.. soo that's lucky! What roles is everyone looking at? I'm definitely thinking merchandise is my top choice right now. I want the role with max. possible interaction w/ kids though - aside from crying children that don't want their hair done (I'm horrible with hair anyways - LOL!)

Considering this for Fall 2011. I have a question though.

I'll be graduating in May 2011, and say I get accepted for Fall 2011. What happens if I happen to get a teaching job sometime after I have already accepted but before I actually GO to Disney? Are you able to "unaccept"? My mom seems supportive of me doing the CP, but she'd rather me get a teaching job first if it's possible.

A lot of us will be graduating in May 2011! you should check out our fb group if you haven't already (Walt Disney World College Program Fall/Fall Advantage 2011).
But yes you can back out on the program at any time.

As long as it's before you get down there- you should be fine.

I had already talked to my mom about taking a year off after graduation and doing substitute teaching, but she says if the opportunity to get a music teacher job opens up, she wants me to go for it.

I live at home and commute to school. I think it'd be nice to have a bit of the "going away from home" experience for a few months before settling into getting a full-time teaching position.

My mom and I are already planning her first vacation to WDW next June and it will be my graduation present. I just hope she doesn't feel like I'd somehow be spoiling the trip if I worked there starting in August or something?

Also, is the CP open to the idea of people, who at the time of the interview, have only visited Disney World once ever? (Eventhough I have only visited once, I stalk this website and have read so many vacation books about that place).

Yeah, my mom is the same way right now. We had a very long discussion about "my future" after I graduate, and how I am going to pay back my massive amounts of student loans. Especially, and I don't know about you, but, music is being cut heavily in schools where I live. Who knows if I am going to be able to find a job. She's not super happy about me doing the CP either, but, she understands that it would at least be a full-time job and good experience.

Wow I didn't know there were so many future music teachers here! I'm a music major as well (I play the violin). I'm graduating with my BA in music in May 2011 and then I'm going to eventually go for a teaching internship and work towards my certification and masters degree in education. I feel like I'm not ready for a "real" job yet haha not to mention I'm sick of school. So I'm planning on doing the CP as a break from school because I've always wanted to do it and if I went straight to grad school I feel like I'd be too old to do something like this afterwards. I think it'll be a nice change from school and classes. In my opinion, we have our entire lives to hold real teaching jobs and things like the CP you can only do when you're young. If you feel like you'd really regret not doing this in the long run I say go for it
