I decided to create this thread for us to talk about the upcoming character auditions and so we could talk to each other and get to know one another before we meet in the designated audition spots. I also think it will b cool/useful to have a place to get out the pre-audition gitters! That being said, what's everyone's dream character? I have three hahah I would love to be Anna, Elsa, or Tink. break a leg everyone! :cheer2:

My favorite character would be tinker belle I would love to slide down that wire just before the fireworks.

I just want to give some advice to those who are going to audition!

First of all, do your makeup to the character you want to be. DO NOT COVER UP ZITS AND ACNE! For me, I was in the Alice hieght so I did the light pinkish lipstick with minimal eye makeup.

You will also have to do a dance. You may also have to preform an animation (Like Charlie Chaplin) Finally, you may have to do a reading as a character.

The final and most important tip is to SMILE! Remember, that Disney wants you to succeed.

P.S The Tinkerbell fly over is played my a stunt professional, and is usually a man.

Thank you so much AlicetheMalice, I had not thought about wearing my makeup to reflect my character! That's a wonderful tip. I was wondering if it was appropriate to wear Disney clothing, i.e. a peter pan tank top. or if that was too much... any advice for that?

Well, its okay to wear "a disney tank top" but, just don't show up in a full Cinderella costume with glass slippers :goodvibes

Also you may, or may not get the character you wanna be. Just check the height ranges.

Why shouldn't we cover up acne? Mine isn't awful, and you can't tell I'm wearing makeup.

I joined as a member just to comment, because these comments are wrong and misleading.

Do not do your makeup as a character, just wear natural makeup. You want to show your best self, not your idea of what Disney casting may want. And yes, cover up your acne. Again, put your best, fresh face forward.

You will have to dance, and possibly do animation as a Disney character (not Chaplin).

Finally, yes, smile. But remember, smiling is not what gets you the job. You need to have fun, be confident, and showcase your abilities.

And the Tinker Bell that flies during Wishes is ALWAYS a woman. NEVER a man. Never. I work for Disney. I know. Believe me or not, but it's always a woman. And you cannot do this as a CP.

First of all, yes the tinker bell fly-over can be a man. The spare is actually a man.

Second of all, coming from a CP it counts to do your make-up right!

Thirdly, during the audition your shown a short film on silent film stars.

Finally, do not cover up any permanent zits, or acne scarring because the casting directors NEED to see this.

I'm glad we agree on the smile though!:wave2:

NO! You are just lying! There isn't even a spare scheduled each night! You are just making this up. Men do NOT do this role.

You are NEVER shown films during your WDW CP audition. Never. Ever. Never. Do not listen to this person. She is making this up.

Feel free to cover up your acne with natural makeup.

There is a mix of true and false here, First of all, there is a backup for each position always. For characters there are general backups by height so you may fill in for anyone in your range. They may assign you to do something else but pull you if necessary. They do not normally schedule a man for Tinkerbell but it has happened and men have performed. There are famous pictures easily found online of Tinkerbill, as it were. My understanding is that early on they had some failures where Tink was stuck on the wire above the park and one needed good upper body strength to reach up, lift your weight off the wire and reseat the pully etc. They have improved on the system since. Not heard of movies being shown during tryouts, can't say it has never happened, and no makeup or light makeup is better.

For the couple of you who seem to know a bit about auditions and casting, is there any point in attending an audition if you are more, I guess 'plus-sized'? I'm like a 12 or 14 dress size, so I know the princesses are definitely out, but what about others? I'm just asking because the closest audition to me is about 2 hours away, and it's an awful long trip just to get cut right away for my size. If I have a shot at someone, great, I'll give it a go. If not, hopefully I'll get another position and by the time the usual end of program auditions come around I'll have lost some weight from running around the parks and working! Thanks in advance!

Hey there! I heard that the biggest they had was around a 12. (And even then, Disney sizes run ridiculously small) I'm probably a 10-12 and I'm going to do extreme Kung fu things to get in shape for audition. Because, like you, I don't want to drive forever only to get cut immediately.

How do you know which characters would be best suited to your height? Is there a range?

Is anyone going to audition in NYC this weekend? I'm super excited! My ideal face character would be sleeping beauty. Also does anyone know what the standard dress size is for princesses?

I measure between 5'7" and 5'8" depending on the time of day and who is measuring, but I heard Disney measures down just a little bit, so I'm in the right height for most of the princesses and the villains...I have to say I prob have the most unusual want for a face character as I want to be Anastasia....dream role all the way!

When I was there we had a saying that they measure you as the height they need you for, lol. I was measured shorter than I really was at the time.

I'm a Spring 2013 DCP Alum, and I'm going to the auditions in Ann Arbor on Tuesday! I was NLIC'd two days ago and when I called they told me it was because of my phone interview. I'm really not sure what I did wrong, but I can't change it now! I'm hoping that I get the full time position they are hiring for! I am perfectly fine doing fur (forever, if needed). If I did get face the only face I could possibly get would be Tink, Alice, or Wendy. I'm Between 4'9" but at my last audition I was measured at 4'7", I'm kinda hoping they measure me at normal height this time.

Went to the big apple today for my first ever Disney audition!! It was a lot of fun, I see why people go just for the experience. I made a lot of awesome friends. Made it past the first cut and I think I did pretty well on the second half of the audition process although planting a tree I found was not my strong suit. Good Luck to everyone that has yet to audition!
