Hi everyone!! Anyone doing their student teaching this fall?! I guess I start Monday (officially on Wed tho!). I just got an email from my one co-op teacher saying that she'd love to have me for a 1/2 day Friday and all day Mon and Tues so there went the rest of my summer! I guess I better start repacking!!!:cool1:

What grades do you have?? I have Kindergarten and 4th. I start Wed and I'm done Dec 7th so I'll spend 1/2 at one school and 1/2 at the other.

After teaching I'll prolly either move back home to be put on a sub list, or I've thought about going down to WDW in the spring to do the CP since it runs Jan-May, anyone else have the same ideas and thoughts?!

Good Luck to all future teachers!!!:cheer2:

I start my student teaching this week. I'm in a 2nd grade class. Our student teaching lasts 10 weeks, so I'm done in early Nov. I've already done my pre-service student teaching in the 2nd grade so I already have an idea of the curriculum for the semester. However, things might change as I have almost completed all of the requirments for my endorsement in SpEd. I have to do student teaching in a SpEd class so my 10 weeks in the 2nd grade may be decreased and a SpEd class added in.

Good luck guys and have fun!
i did my student teaching last january-may and then graduated in May

yay!! I lived my first week but now i'm sick, the little 5 yr olds got me sick and i'm not too happy about that lol. other than that its going well, I can't wait till dec tho! lol

I have my first internship next semester which involves teaching 2 days a week. Next year I will be student teaching full time for a semester.

How is it? Fun? Difficult? I'm kinda nervous about it, but I really cannot wait to be done with all my college work that requires so many projects and special notebooks and portfolios. I'm hoping that being in the elementary school classroom will be less stressful than being in a college classroom.

Heres the basic scoop of mine. We have to do a Pre-Student teaching class before the actual S.T. and you go one day a week for a semester to get to know schools, teachers, etc. So before my S.T. I knew my staff I would be working with. I have K and 4th. I love K and do not like 4th. It's the "city" school of the district and its only grades 3-6. Already they expelled 4 kids for fighting in 5th and 3rd grade! The work will get much harder when I am in 4th and doing lesson plans every day for all subjects but K is very easy, 2 subjects that's it.

My K teacher has plans already done so I recopy them in the right format and add some things as well. All in All I think it's a good experience but I appled for the WDW CP for the spring so It will be a nice vacation/work away from school and classes!!

If you have any other questions let me know!

for my student teaching (went Jan 07-May 07) i was in a developmental kndergarten classroom. I loved the age, the class, the school, the teachers..but it was stiill such a hard experience for me. my cooperating teacher was great, but i never felt entirely comfortable in her classroom--i was never able to make the classroom my own

I'm doing student teaching right now! I'm in a second grade classroom. We started on Sept. 4 and I'll be there until the end of January. I think they used to give you 2 placements, but one of my classes was Middle School Methods and we needed 40 hours for that. So instead we have the same placement for the entire semester which is pretty nice.

So far I really like it (I really wanted 1st, 2nd or 3rd grade)! I'm a little worried about when I'll be teaching full-time, but hopefully it'll be OK!

didnt you at one time think about doing the CP in the spring 2008? That is what I am doing b/c I'm considered a full-time grad student so I am able to apply which I did and had my interview already. I figured that instead of sitting around the house every day and hope I get called to sub, I could actually be doing something to make my resume look impressive and it's only till May so I figured I'll be back by June to start looking for full-time jobs for the fall.

..just something to think about!! :)

Yeah, I actually did think about doing the CP for the same reason! I still think it would be fun, but I don't know if I'll actually do it. The thing I'd be worried about is getting a job for after the CP. That's so cool you already interviewed...good luck!

haha... I wish my ST was that easy, right now I'm doing 8th grade algebra and 10th grade geometry and algebra II. I'm a Sec Math major, the age is actually great for me, because I love that the kids have their own personalities and they are actually aware of the fact that they have to do well in school to suceed. Its always difficult to enforce mat in schools, but I guess I lucked out this year because the classes are great! I'll be graduating in december and my co-op teacher will actually be going on maturnity leave around that time, so hopefully I'll get the permanent sub job right away! Can't wait! good luck to everyone going into CP!

I thought about that as well, but in my seminar class, my teacher said that schools don't start hiring until end of june-aug so i figured I'd be home mid May to start applying and to go on job interivews in June so I figure this would be a great way for me to keep busy. I just wish one of the roles was working in the kids clubs at some of the hotels b/c that would be perfect! Most ppl just sit at home and hope to get called for a sub job. I have one friend that put herself on sub list at 5 differnet schools around our college (thinking our college has a great rep and she would get called) she has not gotten called once so she said she'll wait it out until the summer and then move to VA and get a perm job lol
