Faldred's Guide To Dining Plan Credit "Values"

You responded to my other post on whether we should upgrade to deluxe, thanks! When I try to download your spreadsheets, I'm asked if I want to be directed to a web page or something in my computer to open it with. Tried Word, but that didn't work. Could you give me a "Cafeen's spreadsheet opening for dummies" lesson? Thanks!

Do you have Excel? That is spreadsheet program.

If you have Excel, use that to open it and make sure you're trying to open the right version (Excel 2003 Format (xls) will open in higher versions, but Excel 2007 Format (xlsx) will not open in lower versions, so if you don't know which version, use the 2003 format). If you do not have Excel, you're going to need to pick up Open Office. It's basically Microsoft Office, but free (and legally that way too). You can google to find the download site.

If you are going to use Open Office for the sheet, simply select the Open Office (ods) Format one.

(as a minor note, I'm currently working on a web-based version... but don't expect that for quite awhile, it's going to take a lot of work :()

By the time you add in appetizers and the DxDP lower cost per credit, signatures are a reasonably good deal on DxDP... at least break-even, and probably better if you're ordering off the higher end of the menu. Even a $30 entree (very low for a signature) by the time you add an $8 appetizer, $8 dessert, and a beverage, is going to be over $50 with tax, which is roughly the DxDP break-even point, depending on your snack credit value.

Yes, agreed in principle. But...as soon as you start sharing desserts and/or appetizers it once again becomes hard to "keep up" with what you need to consume to make DxDP worthwhile.

For those who will do 2/3 on TS - but not sigs all the time - and want the appie, entree, and dessert at all those meals... it is a good deal.

If you want a couple or three signature experiences over a week or so, and don't need a dessert for every member of your party at every meal, then you are probably better off with the regular DP and just OOP sometimes (including for appies when you may feel like one or when you will share them).

I don't mean to beat a dead horse...I quite enjoy the math and thinking it through....I am just trying to boil it all down to a practical rule of thumb as to when DxDP is a good deal.

It can very complicated but then again...it is very simple...if you consume more than $78.99 in value per day on average, it's a good deal! :goodvibes

Imagine trying to sort when the Platium, Premium or Wine and Dine plans pay off!!!! :scared1:
