**Faith and Max's 12.22.12 Swan/Garden Grove/ADH Wedding!!** UPDATED 16!!

Oh, I want to snuggle all the dogs! :goodvibes I do adore bulldogs, but as Jackie said, they can get expensive. I'm generally more of a big dog kind of girl, but corgis have won my heart. Have you seen pics of the corgi/husky mix? So much adorableness! And congrats on the condo! I am super duper jealous :rotfl:

Fantastic deal on the invites! I love those colors, too.

Great score on the invites! Michaels is the best, we bought our invites there too.
The UP engagement shoot sounds awesome, I think it will be so cute. I can't wait to see pictures!
Yay for being able to stay at your grandmother's place basically for free. We want to get a dog soon(ish) too. I think Jack Russell terriers are adorable, they are really smart too.
Holy Disney trips! They sound like fun. Do you run the Princess marathon? I'm hoping to be able to do it one day too but I'm still new to running. How sweet that your fi was planning a surprise trip :)

-Great deal on the invites! I love Michael's.
-DF and I lived in a condo that his mom owned and only paid utilities... it was awesome! I miss that hardcore.
-As much as I love bulldogs, bulldogs are VERY expensive. Their folds get infected a lot, so just be prepared if you decide on one of them!
-Have you thought about maybe a basset hound or a beagle? Or maybe even a French bulldog? All of those are "little-ish" but they are also "real" dogs. And, I KNOW this is none of my business, but have you considered going to a rescue? (I won't get all preachy, but that's all I'll say! :goodvibes)
-I'm not gonna lie... I'm a little jealous of all your trips! Maybe you can stalk my wedding in January!
Great suggestions about the basset and beagle! I didn't even think about them!

We are definitely looking into getting a rescue! Ideally, I'd love to get a rescue but I'm also being really selfish and want a puppy... along with the rest of the rescuing world. We are definitely going to research pounds and rescue associations and cross our fingers for a puppy. Do you know if you can request to be notified of an arrival of a dog?

I'd love to stalk your wedding in January! I know where it is... :rolleyes1
Hi! Just realized I haven't come across your planning journal until now. :)

The invites you found are really cute...AND an awesome deal! Can't wait to see how your engagement photos came out.

My vote for the pup - either a Sheltie or Shiba Inu :)
Hi! Thank you! We're so pleased with the invites and their price! :woohoo:

Ugh, it's so hard to pick between the dogs because they are all just so cute! I really love them all!

That is an awesome deal on invites!!!! I really like the design too, good find!! :goodvibes

YAY for round 2 of your e-pics! Hmm maybe wear some sweaters to bring in the winter/holiday theming, especially since your wedding is in Dec too? Try to incorporate your colors maybe? The more "props" you bring the more picture choices you'll have, even if it's just something like a hat, scarf, mittens, etc. Obviously you said it's not super cold there so you don't neeed these things, but they could make for some pretend-cold cuteness? Love the balloons idea and going with an UP! inspiration! We loved the balloons for our pics too! ;)

oooo a pup!! We have our choc lab and he's def not 20 lbs. hahaha I'm partial to the bulldog! Does the condo have a lot of stairs? Their short stalky legs can't do a ton of stairs, but one of my best friends and bridesmaids has one living in a townhouse in DC and hers is a doll! Or how about a French Bulldog? Little bit smaller and still super cute (IMO)! :cutie:
I love the winter idea!! I will run that by DFi and see what he says! You're right though.. the more props you have, the better the pictures!

Thankfully our apartment will be on the first floor so there will be no stairs for our little pup to climb! Good idea about the French Bully! Another option!

Aren't they all just ADORABLE?! Corgis are too cute-- I am a big dog girl as well but they are just so sweet and lovable. I used to walk one for my neighbors. I think his name was Pizza and he was so much fun! :goodvibes

I haven't seen a corgi/husky mix but that sounds like something I need to see immediately! Off to Google!

Thanks!

Thanks Jilian!

Jack Russell's are really cute but I'm worried about how hyper they are.. :rotfl:

We are running the "Royal Family 5k"! We aren't runners and actually hate to run but my mom and I figured a Disney marathon would give us the much needed motivation to get our butts off the couch and get moving. This will be our first marathon so we decided to play it safe with the 5k.. If all goes well, I'm planning on running the Princess Half next year! :thumbsup2

Just had an idea on the dog search front - have you gone through PetFinder? You can search by breed, locality, whether they're house-trained, etc.

I'm on PetFinder all the time and fall in love every day! DFi has banned me from going to the website. :lmao: But, that is a GREAT idea!! Thank you! :worship:

Yeah, I'm generally not allowed to go on there because I want to adopt everything. I'm such a marshmallow for a cute face :rotfl:

I am the same way! I keep myself from petfinder for those very reasons. I watched the national dog show like I always do on thanksgiving and greg was like "do you want a dog farm" and i said "YES!" lol

Happy Sunday, everyone!

I hope all my American readers had a Happy Thanksgiving and scored some good deals during Black Friday shopping!

We had a quiet but yummy holiday.. and a very productive shopping weekend!

We have been debating back in forth whether we should buy our invites from a professional company, one of our talented designers on the DIS, from Michael's, or just let DFi make them.

We went to Michael's on Thursday because we had a coupon that we figured we should make good use of and I stumbled across the perfect invites for us! They are the perfect color and are everything that we wanted (pocket, bellyband, monogram, etc). By using the weekend coupons we were able to buy a box a day for $20/box! We got 90 invites for about $60!

We are going to print them at home using our laser printer and call it a day. I wanted really fancy invites but couldn't bring myself to spend the money considering they really are just paper and will eventually meet their fate in the trash can..

Engagement Pictures-- Take 2!
In other news, we are taking the second half of our engagement pictures this weekend and have no clue what to wear! We are going to park, "having a picnic", and bringing a bunch of balloons. We are going to try to recreate the UP! picnic scene!

Any suggestions on what to wear? It's not cold out so we can wear just about anything you can think of!

We love UP! and wanted to have an UP! engagement shoot but didn't think it would turn out too well since we didn't have the amazing props that a lot of UP! shoots have. Then, we were thinking.. we're having an UP! inspired session! Carl and Ellie both work at the zoo (where we had our first session) and then our next session will be the picnic on the hill! Needless to say... we're pretty pleased with ourselves. :rotfl2: It's not blatantly UP! but it certainly is if you've seen the movie and put two and two together... in a roundabout way! :lmao:

Life, the Apartment, and PUPPIES!
Other than all of this, I can't believe it's almost December! :scared1: It's insane that we're about a month away from 2012-- it is such a HUGE year for me.. I have a milestone birthday, I graduate from college, AND I'm getting married! Crazy! :yay:

We've made progress with our apartment as well. We will most likely be moving into my grandmother's condo that she no longer resides in. It is small but cute and the best part is that we will have to only pay for utilities! :worship:

That said, it needs a lot of work. My parents are going to refurbish it and rent it out after we leave. We plan on staying there until we have decided where we'd like to live and after we've collected enough money for a down payment on a house. It shouldn't take us too terribly long considering we are living for free practically! I'm thrilled and really hope everything works out.

In addition, we have started to look into dog breeders for our future puppy! I know working with breeders takes as while (need to find a reputable one, have the litter, etc) so we figured we'd start looking soonish. I have NEVER had a dog and DFi is hoping he can get me one for a wedding present! We found out that the apartment complex allows dogs that are under 20 pounds... :scared1: This is a real issue considering all the dogs we want are at least 40+ pounds.

Our biggest "small dog" contender right now is... the Finnish Spitz!
fs1.jpg

DFi is 50% Finnish and I think it's really cute that this dog is the national dog of Finland!

He doesn't weigh 20 pounds but maybe no one will notice? :rolleyes1

We're also looking into...
English Bulldogs:
English-Bulldog2.jpg

Shelties:
sheltie-puppy-smile.jpg

Shiba Inus:
puppy_shiba_inu.jpg

Corgis:
PembrokeLucy2.jpg

As you can tell, not many of them adhere to the 20lb weight limit... :rolleyes1

Any recommendations for small-ish dogs that are still kind of big? We don't like little dogs too much.

Upcoming Disney Trips

December: my mom and I are going up for one night just to see the S/D decorations and go look at the DTD Resorts.

**DFi was planning a surprise Christmas trip for us but he said he'd rather go on off-season when we'll get more bang for our buck!**

January:
-my mom and I are going up for two nights for her birthday! We are going horseback riding, eating at 1900 Park Faire, and going to the S/D spa!
-DFi's surprise trip!

February: Princess Marathon! princess:

After that, I think we're halting all Disney trips just so the wedding will be extra exciting! :cool2:

Whew! I basically wrote a book today! If you read all of that :hug:s to you!

I hope everyone has a great week!

Lots of good news stuff :cool1:

On the subject of dogs... how about a Boston Terrier, they're around 20lbs and they love to be dressed up like Minnie Mouse - :rotfl2: This is my 7 year old Boston, Chaleigh, enjoying his dress up time!

Thanks for sharing-- give him a treat for his good behavior and his dashing looks! :rotfl:

Ohh look at that baby! My family and I had a Boston a while ago and she was so wonderful. They are truly great companions! Love this picture, btw. Too funny. He does not look pleased but what a handsome man he is!! :)

LOL We watched that, too, and Doug reminded me more than once that we'll need an awfully large yard if I want that many dogs :rotfl:

* Your invites are great! What a good deal, and I think they're really pretty.
* Congrats on the condo! That's amazing, to be able to live there basically for free. I'm jealous!
* I'm not much of a dog person and know next to nothing about them, but my husband's uncle has two Shiba Inus. They seem like very good dogs... though you're right, I would guess they weigh more than 20 pounds! My aunt has two basset hounds but I think they're more trouble than they're worth. But you probably know what type/personality of dog you want better than I do! (I want a cat! ;) )

Great deat with the invites! :woohoo: I lived with my mom 4 about 1 yr so i was able 2 save so i know the feeling when things r FREE & CHEAP :goodvibes The dogs r so cute :lovestruc

Hey girl! You know me as Sessions from TK. Dropping by to look around and possibly post a TR from our HM. :D I'm still getting my feet wet in the DIS boards. This is more of my mom's thing, so I'm not used to it yet, lol.

Just saw that you were wanting to check out the DTD resorts. DH and I stayed at the Royal Plaza for our HM, so let me know if you have any questions about it!

Shiba Inus are at the top of our list. They seem well behaved!

I LOVE cats! We have to kitties and I just adore them. We will definitely have cats too.

Thanks girlie!

Hey girl! Glad to see you here!

PLEASE write up a TR for your HM! I've seen all your pictures and read your post on TK but I want moreee!

How did you like the Royal Plaza? Did they have transportation to the parks?

Happy Sunday everyone!

We took the second half of our engagement pictures yesterday and by 10:30pm our photographer's had a sneak peek up on Facebook! :worship::banana:

I am OBSESSED. I've looked at them too many times and cannot wait until we get our CD! Then we will create our Save the Dates and have them ready to go for mid-January!

I know many of you have seen them already but here's the link in case anyone who isn't on FB would like to see them: http://www.poirierweddingphotography.com/blog/west-palm-beach-engagement-session/

I will post more pictures when we get the CD!

Thanks for reading along and for all the support-- you all are fantastic DisFriends! :grouphug:

I saw your pics on FB and I LOVE the "safari" outfits. I think they are SO cute! It looks like you guys had a lot of fun!!

Good luck on all your exams!

Aww, your pictures are great! I love all of the beautiful color in the background. The one of you two laying on the ground is my favorite, you are such an adorable couple!

Good luck with your last week of school and your big test!

Love your pj! We also decided to do pop out streamers for our staged exit. If that's still your plan I thought I would let you know that Party City has them on clearance for $15! Its a really good deal. We cleaned out our local store yesterday and got 4 packs of 14 for a little over $60--much cheaper than rose petals!

http://www.partycity.com/product/po...=Search&navSet=streamers&price=$10.00-$19.99&

We tested one this morning and it worked really well!
