**Faith and Max's 12.22.12 Swan/Garden Grove/ADH Wedding!!** UPDATED 16!!

Your budget looks great! You are doing SO much more with your money than I am!! We have similar budgets, but I only have 20 people--- so you're doing a fantastic job. :goodvibes

And with all the Anglophile and Tudor love here, we should totally all do a group DISBrides trip to England some day ;)

I watched the whole 4 seasons of the Tudors last month, most of it when I was off sick.

I'll meet you all at the airport with a big banner.

We need a disney cruise that goes over the pond :)
Absolutely! We went on Disney's Baltic Cruise in 2010 and it left from Dover.. now, if only we could charter the ship to just drop us off in England!

Thank you! I think you're doing great with your budget as well, girl!

I love the Tudors!

Although it's not Tudor related, DFi and I have been watching BBC's Merlin on Netflix and we're obsessed. We need the BBC channels! :lmao:

And YES! :cheer2: One big DIS meetup! We'll bring you some pixie dust from Disney World! ;)

Awesome! We just finished up season two, and I've currently two books that I can't wait to start reading. I really need a speedreading class... lol

Faith! We're taking over your thread with all this Tudor/England talk! :rotfl:

Quite acceptable! :lmao:

I wish I could find the pictures from my most recent London trip-- I've got some at the Tower, some of me pretending I'm a Princess, some of me with "Dr. Watson".. that'd really fuel our fire. :rotfl2:

I'm so jealous. It's long been a dream of mine to go there, even before I became a history geek! There are so many places I want to visit - both historical stuff and places where my family is from - I think I'll need a month or four to see everything :)

So sorry for "creeping" on your conversation with someone else, :lmao: but I just wanted to say that I "lived" in England for 3 months when I studied abroad and it was amazing! I was in Oxford and I loved it. Since I was living there I got to experience both the tourist side of things but also felt like I lived there, so that was really nice. Oxford was an amazing place, I would love to go back someday. I think that if I wouldn't miss my family so much I would move to England in a heartbeat.

I know the legal/visa issues can be pretty tricky. My friend has been living in France for over a year now but she gets so stressed with that stuff. Hopefully you can figure it out, that would be amazing to live in England for awhile!

Ok now I am the creeper. I love london and englad in general. I have only been once but I can not wait to go back! I love the feeling of the country and I would totally move there! I can't wait to go back I kinda wish we were going for our honeymoon.

Teresa

I just had to comment! That sounds so beautiful, you seem to be in a great location! I've never been to England but I can picture it perfectly. :cutie:

Whew! Just got myself all caught up! Congrats on coming in under budget! I so desperately want a dessert party, but we're paying for this ourselves, and unless there's some sort of miracle money-wise... it's just not looking positive right now. Poo!

OMG, wouldn't that be amazing?? We should do it!!:dance3::grouphug:
:boat: <-- that's us crusing over to the UK!
:car: <-- that's our car in the UK!

:rotfl:

I want a DP too. It stinks but I don't want to spend the extra $$. I hope you find a way to squeeze one in!

Phhh yes. Disbrides off to England!

:lmao:

We're coming for ya, Jo! :grouphug:

AND! We could take a quick stop over in Paris for DL!

My sweet girls - Isn't it funny how you all dream of coming over here to live and my lifetime ambition is to live in Florida (or the USA in general)? I guess the grass is always greener and all that!!!
So, when are you all coming?? I would love for that to come off, and I would be so excited to meet you all!!
Funnily enough, I am off to Paris on Wednesday. My DD, friend and I are having a little girly trip to that lovely city, and having two nights at DLRP too. Well, it's not Florida, but it will have to do. I am very excited to be spending some quality time with my girls!!

Tinkerbell007 - Thanks!! My cottage is sweet (although somewhat cold in the winter!!!). It looks particularly lovely at Christmas, as it has beams on the ceilings, which are perfect for hanging garlands and the like!!! I will try to post some pictures at some point - maybe wait until it is all decorated for Christmas. DS's girlfriend always says that the cottage reminds her of that Cameron Diaz/Kate Winslett movie 'The Holiday' - I know what she means!!

I loved 'The Tudors' too!! Although some artistic liberties were clearly taken, it was quite good on the historical accuracy side wasn't it? Excellent programme!!

What books are they? Have you read Philippa Gregory, her books are great.

What books are they? Have you read Philippa Gregory, her books are great.

'Three Maids for a Crown' by Ella March Chase, about the Grey sisters (it was seeing 'Lady Jane' about fifteen years ago that sparked my interest), and 'Elizabeth I' by Margaret George (who wrote such a stunning novel about Cleopatra, I'm super duper excited to read this one).

I've read a good amount of PG's stuff, but I find it to be rather hit or miss. I really enjoyed 'The Constant Princess', since at that time I didn't know too much about Catherine of Aragon, but couldn't stand 'The White Queen'. Have you read any of Alison Weir's stuff? She's done both fiction and nonfiction, and she really brings people to life.

I loved The White Queen! No i've not read any of those i'll keep my eye out.

Sorry Faith totally taken over your PJ, maybe we need another FB group for chatting about non wedding stuff!

I'll have to check out your recommendations! I'm always on the hunt for good Tudor fiction!

No, I LOVE it! It's so fun we all share a common interest!
Ummm heavens know where we'd end up with that group
:lmao:

We are taking our Engagement Pictures today!! :yay::banana::yay::banana::dance3::cheer2::yay::dance3::cheer2:

I'd love to see pictures of your cottage, especially being decorated for Christmas! :woohoo: I ADORED Kate Winslett's cottage in that movie, if I ever get to visit England I want to stay in one just like that. :cutie:

Faith- Thank you for posting your budget, it gives me hope for when I'm planning my wedding that Disney could still be a possibility!
Also, major props for being UNDER budget! :cheer2: It all sounds so lovely.
Have fun with your engagement photos today!

How were the engagement photos?
It rained. :sad1:

We got some great shots but we have to take Part 2 of our pictures on December 3rd! We took all of our fun, safari pictures but still need to take our normal clothes pictures!

The few pictures I did see looked great so I'm very excited! I'm just bummed we'll have to wait longer than normal to see them. Oh well!

sorry to hear it rained at your photoshoot, but at least you get to finish them off on Dec 3rd. They'll be worth the wait :goodvibes xx

Happy Sunday, everyone!

I hope all my American readers had a Happy Thanksgiving and scored some good deals during Black Friday shopping!

We had a quiet but yummy holiday.. and a very productive shopping weekend!

We have been debating back in forth whether we should buy our invites from a professional company, one of our talented designers on the DIS, from Michael's, or just let DFi make them.

We went to Michael's on Thursday because we had a coupon that we figured we should make good use of and I stumbled across the perfect invites for us! They are the perfect color and are everything that we wanted (pocket, bellyband, monogram, etc). By using the weekend coupons we were able to buy a box a day for $20/box! We got 90 invites for about $60!

We are going to print them at home using our laser printer and call it a day. I wanted really fancy invites but couldn't bring myself to spend the money considering they really are just paper and will eventually meet their fate in the trash can..

Engagement Pictures-- Take 2!
In other news, we are taking the second half of our engagement pictures this weekend and have no clue what to wear! We are going to park, "having a picnic", and bringing a bunch of balloons. We are going to try to recreate the UP! picnic scene!

Any suggestions on what to wear? It's not cold out so we can wear just about anything you can think of!

We love UP! and wanted to have an UP! engagement shoot but didn't think it would turn out too well since we didn't have the amazing props that a lot of UP! shoots have. Then, we were thinking.. we're having an UP! inspired session! Carl and Ellie both work at the zoo (where we had our first session) and then our next session will be the picnic on the hill! Needless to say... we're pretty pleased with ourselves. :rotfl2: It's not blatantly UP! but it certainly is if you've seen the movie and put two and two together... in a roundabout way! :lmao:

Life, the Apartment, and PUPPIES!
Other than all of this, I can't believe it's almost December! :scared1: It's insane that we're about a month away from 2012!

We've made progress with our apartment as well. We will most likely be moving into my grandmother's condo that she no longer resides in. It is small but cute and the best part is that we will have to only pay for utilities! :worship:

That said, it needs a lot of work. My parents are going to refurbish it and rent it out after we leave. We plan on staying there until we have decided where we'd like to live and after we've collected enough money for a down payment on a house. It shouldn't take us too terribly long considering we are living for free practically! I'm thrilled and really hope everything works out.

In addition, we have started to look into dog breeders for our future puppy! I know working with breeders takes as while (need to find a reputable one, have the litter, etc) so we figured we'd start looking soonish. I have NEVER had a dog and DFi is hoping he can get me one for a wedding present! We found out that the apartment complex allows dogs that are under 20 pounds... :scared1: This is a real issue considering all the dogs we want are at least 40+ pounds.

Our biggest "small dog" contender right now is... the Finnish Spitz!
fs1.jpg

DFi is 50% Finnish and I think it's really cute that this dog is the national dog of Finland!

He doesn't weigh 20 pounds but maybe no one will notice? :rolleyes1

We're also looking into...
English Bulldogs:
English-Bulldog2.jpg

Shelties:
sheltie-puppy-smile.jpg

Shiba Inus:
puppy_shiba_inu.jpg

Corgis:
PembrokeLucy2.jpg

As you can tell, not many of them adhere to the 20lb weight limit... :rolleyes1

Any recommendations for small-ish dogs that are still kind of big? We don't like little dogs too much.

Upcoming Disney Trips

December: my mom and I are going up for one night just to see the S/D decorations and go look at the DTD Resorts.

**DFi was planning a surprise Christmas trip for us but he said he'd rather go on off-season when we'll get more bang for our buck!**

January:
-my mom and I are going up for two nights for her birthday! We are going horseback riding, eating at 1900 Park Faire, and going to the S/D spa!
-DFi's surprise trip!

February: Princess Marathon! princess:

After that, I think we're halting all Disney trips just so the wedding will be extra exciting! :cool2:

Whew! I basically wrote a book today! If you read all of that :hug:s to you!

I hope everyone has a great week!

-Great deal on the invites! I love Michael's.
-DF and I lived in a condo that his mom owned and only paid utilities... it was awesome! I miss that hardcore.
-As much as I love bulldogs, bulldogs are VERY expensive. Their folds get infected a lot, so just be prepared if you decide on one of them!
-Have you thought about maybe a basset hound or a beagle? Or maybe even a French bulldog? All of those are "little-ish" but they are also "real" dogs. And, I KNOW this is none of my business, but have you considered going to a rescue? (I won't get all preachy, but that's all I'll say! :goodvibes)
-I'm not gonna lie... I'm a little jealous of all your trips! Maybe you can stalk my wedding in January!

Hi! Just realized I haven't come across your planning journal until now. :)

The invites you found are really cute...AND an awesome deal! Can't wait to see how your engagement photos came out.

My vote for the pup - either a Sheltie or Shiba Inu :)

That is an awesome deal on invites!!!! I really like the design too, good find!! :goodvibes

YAY for round 2 of your e-pics! Hmm maybe wear some sweaters to bring in the winter/holiday theming, especially since your wedding is in Dec too? Try to incorporate your colors maybe? The more "props" you bring the more picture choices you'll have, even if it's just something like a hat, scarf, mittens, etc. Obviously you said it's not super cold there so you don't neeed these things, but they could make for some pretend-cold cuteness? Love the balloons idea and going with an UP! inspiration! We loved the balloons for our pics too! ;)

oooo a pup!! We have our choc lab and he's def not 20 lbs. hahaha I'm partial to the bulldog! Does the condo have a lot of stairs? Their short stalky legs can't do a ton of stairs, but one of my best friends and bridesmaids has one living in a townhouse in DC and hers is a doll! Or how about a French Bulldog? Little bit smaller and still super cute (IMO)! :cutie:
