Fairmont Hotel in DC

I am so mad!!!! I booked this hotel but cancelled it a couple days later,decided to stay at the Marriott Metro Center because it was cheaper and location. Well today I received my bill and they charged me $266.00. I called them and told them that I did cancel but don't have the cancellation number (I must have thrown it out thinking no big deal I did cancel it) Well the lady in the accounting department basically said too bad!!!! I said well do you think you could maybe split it with me since someone on your end didn't do their job? I got a NO again!!! I now for sure that I cancelled it because I didn't want to be charged that amount. So now I'm out an extra $266.00!!!

I'm quite surprised this happened to you. I stay at the Fairmont DC about 3 times a year and have never had a problem with them or their accounting dept.

I would try asking for a supervisor in the acct dept. Do you happen to have a print out or some other record of the cancellation?

I know this doesn't help this time, but I always, always ask for any cancellation information, be it hotel or car rental or whatever, to be emailed to my primary email address. I actually have a folder for my cancelled stuff (not too many, but sometimes I do book a few hotels in one area and then cancel or switch based on cost, timing, etc) and that way I always have a record which is easily accessible. And since it's on an internet site and not just my personal computer, it can't be lost if I get a virus attack or the computer crashes.

I would call corporate though and really pitch a fit and demand my money back and make sure they know you've already shared this with an online forum and that your "forum friends" are awaiting resolution news before THEY book THEIR DC reservations!
