We are thinking of trying Universal and would like to know info. regarding the Fairfield Inn vs. Doubletree. We are looking at the kids stay and eat free packages. Thanks

Hi, if I'm not mistaken I think that that property (Doubletree) used to be something else, maybe a Hyatt? We stayed there (Hyatt) in '02 as part of a US/IOA package. If it's the same hotel it was very comfortable, has a TGIFridays next door (we walked over). Rooms were clean and spacious. HTH

We are staying at the Doubletree entance to universal stuidos. I've never stayed here, but have read many conflicting reports. 1/2 say they will never stay again, the other 1/2 say they loved it. So not sure. I know nothing of the fairfield inn, but best way to find out is to go to this web site here http://www.tripadvisor.com/

Under 'Site Search' Just type in Fairfield Inn, Orlando

This is a great web site for reviews. Good luck with your search!!!

Thanks for the info. Have any of you stayed at the RPR? I am wondering if it would be worth the extra money. We are thinking of a 3 night stay.

We are booked at HRH for the upcoming trip. While there was nothing wrong with our offsite trip in '02, we prefer to stay onsite for the perks. We are pretty much strictly onsite for WDW trips, this will be our first onsite at US/IOA. For the convenience of FOTL alone it's worth it to us. Plus not having to worry with parking.

I haven't heard much about the Fairfield Inn, but it looks fairly new. The walk from the Fairfield in is slightly farther than the Double Tree, about 5 minutes more.
The reason why there may be conflicting reports about the Double Tree, is because it's one of the closest hotels to the parks, along with the Holiday Inn. With both hotels being that close, they are always booked, and sometimes they slack off.
I've since heard that the Holiday Inn has revamped a wing, and they know people are complaining about prior visits. Not sure about the current status of the Double Tree.
If you have kids and plan on walking over, the Double Tree may be the better choice since it is about 5 minutes closer. I wouldn't count on the hotel shuttles, they usually make you pay, and they only travel a few times a day. You'd be better off waking up early, and walking over to the parks at 07:30am. Tell the kids you're going on an adventure, then they won't complain about the walk.

We were going to stay at the DoubleTree and just decided to cough up the extra cash and stay at RPR. We then went ahead and booked the Club Level Room. From what I have read here the perks are just too good to pass up.
