Oops - I blew it on the last post. Did not mean for it to be a poll. Please reply here.

I read another post, not sure if it was this board, that guests of one hotel at this resort can use the pool at another.

I had not heard of the daily resort fee. What is it suppose to cover?

Carol,
I spent 1 night(3/9)here, arriving @ midnight and checking out at 8 am to check into OKW. I was very disappointed, and glad it was for 1 night only. I reserved 2 connecting rooms, as my sister was with us on this trip. When we arrived, they had us on seperate floors, and it took a while to get that fixed. We were charged more than I was quoted for the AAA rate, and we were not told of the $5.50 resort fee. The front desk added $20 per room per night, and said it would be refunded when we checked out the next day. We paid in cash, and the clerk did not give us any change back. She called my sister's room at 1:15 am to tell her she "forgot" her change. (Needless to say, my sister told her SHE did not forget, the clerk was wrong!). When I made the reservation, I requested a roll-away for 1 room, as there would be 3 children in my room. I was told no problem. Upon arrival, I inquire about the roll-away, and am told that roll-aways are a fire hazard in double-bedded rooms. Our room, however, had a sleeper sofa, but no MATTRESS! It took "engineering" an hour to find one! Also, the remote control had NO batteries in it! We were still overcharged at checkout, as we did not get the entire $20 back, even though we did not use the phone. I did not mind paying the resort fee of $5.50, however, I was not told of it when I made the reservation on the very day of our stay! Also, I called my credit-card company on 3/14(4 days after checking out of FFI)and find out Marriott still has a "hold" on a certain amount of money, which was more than the rooms cost! I called the resort directly, who claimed not to have my cc number as I paid in cash. The money was credited back to my cc on 3/19, after I returned home. After staying at the Courtyard next door on 12/9-11, 2000, and at Springhill Suites on 12/30-01/04/01 with no problems, I was very disappointed in the Fairfield. I think most of the problem was with the reservation department, but I thought the staff at the FFI was not up to par with the staff at the Courtyard. I absolutely raved about the service I received in December. The hotel itself is fine, and the cont. breakfast is a money-saver. Just be sure to check your bill!

Would you please provide more description of this hotel's rooms, the cont. breakfast and the pool. We have ressies for August. I contacted the hotel for info but all I received was a card describing amenities but it did not have any photos. Also, do the Springhill Suite rooms have balconies?

Thanks.

I did not see any balconies at Springhill Suites, or any at the Courtyard or Fairfield Inn in the Little Lake Bryan complex. We always arrive late(@ midnight or after)and it seems we get lousy room locations. At Springhill, we had a nice view of I-4, and a parking lot. At the Courtyard, though, we had a nice pool view. I am not sure about the pool-hopping privilege: I was told no, you could not use the Courtyard pool if staying at the Fairfield Inn, but this was from the same front desk staff that had everything else wrong. I did not see the pool at Springhill Suites, as it was FREEZING during our New Year's trip. At Springhill, I found the breakfast to be better than I expected, but the lines are narrow and confusing. It may have just been overly congested due to the holiday period. I am sure they probably charge a resort fee now, but they did not in early Jan. The fee supposedly covers such things as the big bus that takes you to the parks, etc. The bus is huge, but we did not use it as we always drive down. We chose Springhill Suites over the Courtyard because there was 5 of us over New Year's, but the room is quite cramped when you pull the sofabed out. We had to slide the desk back(blocking the kitchenette area)and slide the 2nd tv over a little(the 2 tvs make no sense,as the room is not divided like some suites)to pull the sofabed out. We never needed anything but extra towels from housekeeping, and they were pretty prompt with those. The location is what I liked the most, as it was very easy to get to the parks from here. I am horrible with directions and I found my way easily. I am a DVC member who sometimes stays off-site for the first 2 weekend nights of a trip to conserve points, and I would stay here again. I hope this helps!

Thanks everyone for the info. I'm not sure if we will stay there or not but will definitely post about the experience. I got a lot of good info and will try to get some of the stuff taken care of before we get there.

the pricing for these 3 hotels seem to be a bit high compared to what else is available nearby..Buena Vista Suites, HIFS, Hampton Inn LBV, etc. It may just me being cheap in my old age but again the prices don't seem to be all that great.
