Has anyone stayed at Fairfield Inn / Universal studios?

Just wanted to know if FAirfield Inn is REALLY across the street from City Walk and US/IOA. Has any one stayed there and if they thought it was good place to stay that is close to everything in US.
Thanks!

You might get a better response if you post this on the Orlando hotels and attractions board.

Hey! I honestly do not believe Fairfield Inn is directly across the street from US/IOA...it is very close, but not within walking distance (not to mention, the "street" you'd have to cross is pretty dang busy).

I have not stayed there, HOWEVER, I am going to stay there tomorrow night, in fact!! I am staying for Rock the Universe and therefore, will not be able to post any new information until Sunday sometime, at the earliest. I will let you know what things are like, how far it is, etc.

I have stayed at Amerisuites Universal which is across the street from the parking garage for Universal, but again, the street is very very busy and the trams that take you over - terrible hours...after park opened and before it closed! Yuck!! But I believe Fairfield Inn is in the same area...going down the same street, only to a different sidestreet.

But, again, I have not stayed there yet and will let you know how things are when I get back!! :)

Of the hotels located on the block formed by Kirkman, Vineland, and Major, the Fairfield Inn is about the furthest from the entrance to CityWalk.

I'd guess it's a 20-30 minute walk (unless you really hoof it).

None of the off site hotels are truly across the street from Universal or IOA. They are across from the entrance to Universal Orlando which makes up the whole complex. Hope that makes sense and helps!

So, which hotel (off-site) is the closest or would be within walking distance? I'd love to stay on site but need 2 rooms during spring break and can't seem to find a deal.
thanks!

Hey guys!! I just got back from staying at the Fairfield Inn, and being used to staying onsite, I must admit that I thought this hotel was quite nice!!!

The drive wasn't too bad...definitely can't walk to Universal, but you can't with any other offsite hotels (because of that one major road). Unlike Amerisuites, there were quite a few times for the bus which takes you to and from Universal (as well as Wet N Wild and Seaworld). The rooms were decent and though they do not have any video input jacks (only important for any who wants to bring a PS2 or something for the kids or to watch a movie), they have a full cable channel list from Bright House (including the major TV shows like ABC, FOX, CBS, etc. as well as Disney Channel, USA, Weather Channel, etc).

Since I just got home, I'm VERY tired and will type more tomorrow (er...later today ;) )!!

So, if you stay offsite, I do recommend Fairfield Inn after all. A LOT more than Amerisuites, let me tell you!!!!

Like FlyFly, we too have stayed at both the Fairfield Inn and the
AmeriSuites "across the street" from UO. The Fairfield Inn is newer than the AmeriSuites. The rooms were very nice, clean and
cheaper! The deluxe breakfast was good at both. AmeriSuites is looking kind of tired in my opinion. I booked both hotels through hotelkingdom.com and got a rate of about $50.00 for FI and
around $80.00 for AmeriSuites! I'd definitely go with the FI.

As mentioned before, although these hotels are located across from Universal Orlando, I would not exactly call them within walking distance. I have seen people do it, but it's by no means an easy walk. That being said, they certainly are among the closest hotels to the Universal Complex.

Hope this helps.

I also meant to add the convienience of the location for the Fairfield Inn.

REALLY close by is a 24-hour Walgreens, a Burger King, a Ponderosa (which I believe has a breakfast buffet), gas station, other restaurants, etc. And it's still only a 2 minute drive from Universal...not too bad. :)

Nice, new hotel , but with very thin room walls, lots of hallway noise. Great continentinal breakfast. DO not take the bus to Sea World--a thirty minute ride turned into a tour of Universal Hotels. It took us over 2 hours to reach Sea World. No more buses for me! You can not walk to universal from this hotel safely.
