OK--fair warning to all my Transportation Board pals. Many of you are aware of my family's unique travel challenges that happen when we fly to Florida in February. Well, we're mixing it up this year, we are flying into Tampa (normally we fly into Ft Myers or Orlando). And the long range forcast looks OK so far.

So, will a rogue weather pattern conspire against us?

Will we have mechanical problems?

Will DS get pulled for additional security?

Will it be all of the above? or Will we have smooth sailing?

For the record, we fly out of Boston around 6pm on the 15th of February. We'll be packing patience, a sense of humor, and good chocolate. Wish us luck!!!

I vote for smooth sailing Deb:yay:, may the Logan airport gods be with you and a little bit of this:wizard:! Have a blast and keep us up to date on how it went!!

Well, all I can say is that I'm glad I flew last week!!! Good luck to you. What terminal are you flying out of??? I flew Airtran last week...in and out of E...it was quite simply incredible. Enough to make me fly Airtran and/or SW out of Logan more often!!!

Good luck!!
We always seem to have problems too. Last year we had a 7hr mechanical delay which ended in us missing our connecting flight and had to sleep in a hotel near ATL.
The year before that Delta canceled our flight out of BOS the day before due to snow arriving on our departure day. Well that snow never happened. Luckily they hadn't canceled flights out of MHT so we were able to switch and still got to leave on our original departure day.
We were suppose to be flying out on the 15th too!! My son qualified for the state championships for track and of course the track meet is Saturday, February 18. Thankfully since we had some schedule changes the airlines worked with us and we are still going but leaving on the 19th coming back the 26th. Didn't have to pay any change fees etc. for switching our dates. We were lucky!!

Good luck!!

Ahh yes, the storm 2 years ago. We were scheduled to leave on that we vacatiWednesday. My cousin (who we vacation with every February) was flying Southwest of Providence out, with a connection in BWI. We were on a non-stop Delta flight out of Boston. Her flight was cancelled Monday night. She called me, we had a meeting of the minds, and decided, that the way the weather predictions were going, there was NO way our flight was leaving either. We decided to rent an SUV, load up, and drive. We left late Tuesday afternoon with 4 adults and 3 12 year olds in a Chevy Tahoe. 29 hours later, we rolled into Bonita Springs. Of course, our Delta flight was one of about 20 flights that day that actually DID get out of Logan. But, what are you going to do?

Flying out of this part of the country, at this time of year, you have to be ready to roll with the punches, and be flexible.....
