Does anyone have any pictures or feedback they can share of the Fair Field Inn

TIA

I was wondering the same thing as well, I just booked a reservation there for my december trip. Never stayed there before but wanted to be within an easy walking distance. I switched to the Fairfield from the Portofino because of location and i had been reading some not so great reviews of the Portofino. Hope someone has som insights for us :)

We've stayed there a few times. Rooms are spacious, and since we have 3 kids I like having the sofa bed chair, without paying extra for a rollaway. We always had a great stay, and its very close walking distance to DLR. However, on our last stay, we had a bottom floor room right next to the front entrance. It was soooo loud, we slept horribly. We stayed at HOJO's for our last trip, and loved it so much that we will prob always stay there now. A further walk, which makes it hard with little ones, but we loved the rooms and the service there. Do you have any specific questions about FFI? It's clean and the service has always been good. HTH!

Personally i just wanted to get a hotel close enough to walk and was clean and not smelly. Comfy beds and good service are also important. Thanks for the info :goodvibes

I have a reservation at the Fairfield Inn for June 2011 and am interested in what others have to say about the property too. I would like to know if the heated pool is really warm (say in comparison to HoJo's garden pool which I think is cold,) if there are multiple elevator locations, and if the rooms are roomy enough. In the past we've stayed at the HoJo in the deluxe 2 queen rooms in building 2, the Residence Inn Maingate, and the Sheraton on Ball Rd. I prefer the HoJo or the the RI over the Sheraton. I like to be within walking distance and got a deal on the Fairfield but I'm still not sold.

I'm an overplanner......I think I need to go to PA (Planners Anonymous) if there is such a thing. In all honesty, I have 4 different hotels booked right now for June 2011. Decisions, decisions. In the end it will all depend on whether or not the Entertainment Rate comes up for my dates, how much I really want to pay for breakfast and that wonderful warm pool at the Residence Inn, etc. etc.

If there is a thread on the DisBoards devoted to compulsive planners, could someone please direct me to it. :confused3

We stayed there back in 2003 and the hotel was nice as was the service.
We are staying there again this November and i will let you know how it is.

We stayed in 2005. The room was a decent size and clean. We liked the chair pull-out bed since it gave us extra sleeping space. Our room was on the freeway side of the building, but the noise from the garbage collectors in the early morning hours was probably more annoying. The only other thing I remember about the room was that it seemed pretty dark, but since we mostly just slept there it didn't bother us that much.

That would be so nice of you! I hope hotel is fabulous and that your trip to DLR is too! Have fun!

We just got home today after spending 7 nights at the Fairfield Inn. Let's see...

Room size:Room enough for the 4 of us (Mom, Dad, 2 tween daughters). We had a room with 2 queen beds. Since we were staying so long we actually unpacked into the dresser--this gave us plenty of space in the room. We had two large duffles and a carry on plus the girls' messenger bags and my big purse--one duffle and all 3 bags/purses went on the shelf above the clothes rack (near the sink) and there was a nice spot to tuck the other duffle under the clothes rack. It's not huge, but we definitely did not feel cramped. We also were only in the room for sleeping and getting ready in the morning.

Cleanliness:Looked clean to me!! So many bed bug stories in the news had me nervous... but no bugs! Room did not look dirty; beds were made nicely each day (and stuffed animals placed near the pillows ) and all the used towels were replaced without having to place them in a particular spot (i.e. the tub). To have fresh bed sheets, there's a sign you need to place on the bed.

Noise:Our room was on the 4th floor and overlooked the parking lot/pool. We could really really hear the fireworks on Sunday night!!!! Didn't notice it being noisy in general.

Elevators:4 elevators and we rarely felt like we had to wait. One morning we seemed to be trying to catch an elevator at the same time half the hotel was trying to leave--very full elevators!

Customer Service:Check-in was pleasant. Check-out was pleasant. Our only other front desk interaction was when we tried to have laundry done--staff member was very helpful but we decided to do our own laundry instead. (OK... the girls and I almost never stay in hotels and DH does occasionally for work, but never long enough to warrant laundry service---so we had no idea how freakishly expensive laundry would be!!!!!!!!!!!! I guess there was supposed to be some sort of form/price list in our room, but we didn't find it) No change machine in the laundry room; DH went to the 3rd floor Marketplace and arcade to find a change machine, but the arcade machine only gave tokens. (OK, maybe all this is typical for hotels... but I've already admitted I'm a country bumpkin who doesn't stay in any of them fancy schmancy hotels you city slickers talk about!)

Fruited water and cups provided near the lobby elevators--usually the water was gone when we arrived in the late evening though. Didn't keep us from taking cups to use in our room for soda and wine! (oh, beer and wine.... available at the Marketplace for $5/beer and $4/single serving wine... we bought 6 pack of beer for $15 and $15 bottle of wine at another hotel mini-mart a couple hotel's away; also bought 2 litre sodas there)

When we arrived, I was sure I'd read something about times for the pool, gift shop, Marketplace, etc. But when I hunted for this info in the leather-bound guest info book early one morning I could not find it!! Discovered last night (i.e. Night 6) that the info was on a sheet of paper given when we checked in. Would have been nice to have hours listed under Guest Services in the binder.

What else needs to be said? "Disney Themed Rooms" means the 3 framed posters on the walls are Disney themed. Nothing else "Disney" about it... The carpet in our room was kinda bubbly/wavey in a few places. Using the clock radio near my cell phone seemed to have some sort of interference.

Oh, the Pool:Umm... the weather wasn't all that great the week we were there. Our 9 year old did get to swim one night and had no complaints (well, not that she'd complain about swimming anyway no matter the weather or pool condition...). My husband did say he wished he'd worn his suit down to the pool as well as it felt very warm.

Location:I never did remember to check my watch at the beginning and end of our walk between the hotel and park...but it was definitely less than 10 minutes from the doors of the hotel to the turnstiles at the park. More like 7 or 8 minutes I'd guess.

We did not order Room Service, but did eat at Millie's (providers of room service) twice--once for breakfast and once for "linner" (~3pm). Not overly impressed with selection... quality was fine. We purchased muffins one day to eat the next morning. Convenient. Quality was...well, store bought muffin quality... We bought pizza from the Pizza Hut in the building one night. Decided it would be better to order pizza elsewhere (which we did later in the week).

So that's my "review" of the Fairfield Inn. Would I stay there again? If I got the same Friends/Family rate I had this time! It seemed like a pretty basic hotel--nothing to really differentiate it from any others. Not a bad place at all--very easy walk to Disneyland and that was our most important qualification (well, that coupled with price...). I would recommend it to a friend.

i've stayed at fair field 4 times. once while constrution was going on. never had a problem. bought breakfast from the small food court. nothing special. rooms good, clean, hot water worked well. in room fridge. back side (east) looks over quility inn, north side you see howard johnsons, south and west look over pool, millis, mcdonalds and oh ya disneyland. can see fireworks on this side. sorry, only pics i have are a lousy shot of the pool and the lower roof with mickeys head drawin in red rock.
bye uncle duck

We originally booked the Fairfield inn, but switched to HoJo when I became aware of the entertainment rate. Honestly, the walk to HoJo is about 1/4 of a block farther so the extra distance shouldn't really factor that much into the equation.

The thing that I noticed walking past FFI on the way to the park is that their their rooms have exterior doors, one of my pet peeves in a motel. I much prefer interior hallways.

Joybelles, thanks so much for your fabulously detailed review! I have this hotel (along with 3 others) booked for our upcoming trip. I'm trying to make a final decision about where to stay but there are so many factors to consider and a bad hotel doesn't make for a very pleasant vacation. I like the Fairfield's location and the fact that it's a Marriott, but I've been wondering about the pool temperature. That's a big thing to my family and I'm so glad that you gave us some details on it.

I understand your concern, but I recently read on another thread that the only way to get to the rooms at the Fairfield is to enter through the main hotel lobby. This actually makes the Fairfield rooms more secure than those at some of the other hotels in the area.

I have photos and a review of FFI linked in my signature. We enjoyed our stay there and would stay there again.

Hi there, I've stayed at both FFI and Hojos and I would stay at either one again. Here's a thread for compulsive planners. I linked it to my review of FFI. :goodvibes

We stayed @ FFI Sept 26th - Oct 1st.... Myself, DH, DS (5) and DD (2) and LOTS of luggage!! 3 suitcases, a stroller & 2 car seats. We still had more than enough room inside our room. The room was clean, the cleaning staff were excellent in accomodating our needs (when we had to return early for naps). The bathroom was a little on the small side, but I am not sure why you would need something bigger. It was clean and that's what mattered to us. The mini fridge is really small, so we brought an extra cooler and filled with ice. The little "cafe" on the 3rd floor was pretty handy, we often bought fruit, yogurt, drinks ect for breakfasts rather than going to a restaurant. There are 4 elevators, all off the main lobby. We rarely had to wait very long for one to come. I think the only time we waited was when we closed the park down and there was a mass exit of the park. The pool was refreshing, I did not find it too cold, mind you, it was 113F during our stay. It was never really that busy during our stay either. McDonalds was handy in the parking lot as was Mille's. The walk to the park was less than 10 mins, the only complaint was the really annoying salesman we would encounter along the way trying to get us to listen to some time share talk. We booked directly through Disney and therefore had a view of the park, could see the fireworks from our room. Also, because of this we did not have to pay for parking! All in all, it was an excellent place to stay!!

Sorry to bump an old thread. We're currently staying at the Fairfield Inn. I have experience with Marriott's in general having stayed at one one and off for business trips (found out my rewards account was still good, hehe). I'm not sure how long they've operated it, but it did seem to have those touches I was familiar with. (Fridges, decent internet, etc).

We're on the sixth floor on the side not facing Disney, but the kids happened to be in the pool when the fireworks show started and had an excellent view.

Having stayed at a range from Motel 6 to DLH, I'm happy with the Fairfield as a good mid-range off-site hotel. There were 5 pillows per bed when we arrived, which is overkill, but it certainly made us feel silly for having brought our own this trip. (after having too few at another hotel).

The climate-control is pretty great, you can set a precise temperature. The air isn't too loud either, so you don't wake up every time it kicks on.

TV is a large flat screen, but we never watch it. :)

Not sure what else to say. Not having a continental breakfast is a minus, but overall we're pretty pleased. We brought cereal bars and pop tarts to make up for it. Didn't have trouble with off-site parking, there was space in the lot.

Walk to Disneyland is fine. Honestly, even Disneyland Hotel is a long walk anymore (since they removed the monorail from inside the building). The only on-site hotel that's close is the Grand Californian for triple the price.

2 Adults, 2 kids = thumbs up for Fairfield.
