Factual List of Home Resort Pros and Cons

HH Disney Resort is definitely Disney and it's great. None of my 5 kids (6 to 16)nor DW complained about not being right on the beach. (Personally, I've stayed at beachfront Ritzes on down and would take Disney any time.) We've stayed beachfront at other resorts in other places and the benefits of Disney's resort more than outweigh any ocean view for us. At this point we're averaging using half our OKW points at HH and half at WDW.

BTW, Doc, could you post the address to your site with the HH pictures.

Neil

I know I am a little late in reading this post and posting a message to it, but it would be much more helpful if with the acronym of the resort the full name be given. I am sure most DVC members already know that the acronym stands for, but many firsttimers may not.
Thanks :smooth:

Cool. Abosulutely no reason for anyone to feel the need apologize again ... and again ... and again. This was not the first instance of similar comments about Disney's Hilton Head Island Resort. (HH opened in March, 1996 for those that missed the announcement.)

.... , but that's still no reason to suggest that HH is not a DVC resort. (Apology or not- "joking" or not.) Marriott (or any of the other "locations" you mention) isn't any big deal IMO either, but I'd never suggest it's not a Marriott resort- especially on a Marriott forum (I'd never even post that on this forum and expect any respect from the post.). If you want to incorrectly post that the DVC resort is not a DVC resort on the Marriott board, go ahead - but expect to be challenged on a DVC forum.

While your opinion is just that, there is no need to besmirch the DVC resort at HH. Many consider it to be far superior to the Marriott's or any other timeshare option located nearby. The beach location is not as important to many as it is to some and the Disney resort has many great options not readily available at Marriott. To each his own.

The VAST MAJORITY of occupancy options at HH are not on the beach and the DVC resort sure has a wonderful location on it's own island and yet still has a beach facility. Marriott has no resorts on an island located in Broad Creek location. To each his own.

We've been going to HH for over 25 years now (mostly at Sea Pines, until 1996) and have never stayed on the beach. We have totally enjoyed having condos near the Sea Pines Tennis facility, in Harbour Town, near the Lawton Stables and at Disney's Hilton Head Island Resort and yet have always been able to enjoy the wonderful beaches at HH even though we have been located 50 yards to 2 miles from the beach.

To each his own.
Sorry, I also didn't know that comparisons with other resorts or timeshares wasn't allowed or was allowed if it favored DVC. MOST timeshare at HH are on or near the beach or in Sea Pines, both more desirable to many than the Shelter Cove Location. But side by side, I think the top 3 Marriott's there are nicer resorts than HH DVC, but not by much. And I consider the Shelter Cove location to be just OK. Certainly II demand, rental prices, real estate for sale prices, resale prices of timeshares on the island AND even the HH points sale history, would support that many, if not most, put a premium on the beach location.

Yeah, but you see, this particular thread (as indicated by the title of thread) is asking for facts about the DVC resorts. The one fact you chose to share about HH was not correct.

Sorry to disagree but the fact is many people feel there are nicer resorts on HH and in better locations than DVC HH. This is a fact in reference to the DVC resort there, I don't frankly see it as just an opinion.

Then just put the facts:

Not near the beach
Not at Sea Pines
Not a top 3 Marriott resort
Not as hard to get through II [I don't know if this is true -- just repeating what Dean said]
Low resale prices compared to other HH resorts [Likewise]

Then indicate, for example, "Some, myself included, would thus consider Disney HH less desirable than other HH locations"

And let everyone else make their own choice

[OneMoreTry prefers the Shelter Cove little HH Disney island. That doesn't make it better by any means and I'm glad everyone can enjoy HH for their own reasons.]
