Fact 1 - I am out of points - Have borrowed all but 14 points from next year.

Fact 2 - I need a vacation this Fall

Fact 3 - I have a reservation on Disney Cruise Line for Oct which cost just less than $3000 in the smallest cabin with no windows.

Fact 4 - 40 DVC points cost aprox $3300

Fact 5 - Disney Cruise last 7 days

Fact 6 - DVC last 39 years.

I love to Cruise ---- I love my DVC

ARRRGGGHHHHHHHHHHHHH

Placing Call to Judy Kaufman. Just to talk - really just to talk.

Update: She says there may be a few points available at HH (more pressure) She will call me tommorrow. Oh great this makes it worse.

TnRobin....you are among many other "afflicted" DVC lovers who will come up with any odd math equation which will justify more points. Need I remind you of the "additional" costs related to the 40 points (maintenance, 39 years of food, other vacation related expenses, etc.).

That said...More points are always nice. I guess you need to ask..which will sooth and relax your inner-self more:

- A beautiful, relaxing and altogether fantastic cruise this year; or

- the knowledge that you have more points.

I would likely opt for the cruise (knowing the 40 points can always be rented if I was in need in a given year), but I to appreciate the "affliction" of being a DVC lover.

Good luck with the decision :)

Wish I were a shrink. I could make a fortune helping all of you poor DVC folks. Kind of like AA, I could start DVC anonymous. :smooth:

Hey new yawka - you forgot to factor in the extra added cost of my cruise - Tips, souveniers, drinks, excursions... :) :) :) I figure exchanging my $3500 a year cruise habit for 40 more points might be an even exchange. :) :) :)

Actually if I get Hilton Head points that will also beautiful, relaxing and fantastic. See I really want to be able to plan a summer vacation every other year in HH - that will take the 11 month window at HH. So I guess my decision will probably rest significantly on whether they will release those HH points

new yawka, I have to disagree on the food issue, you have to eat anyway, so that can't be a factor in this equation. :teeth:

And knowing you, Robin, you just NEED to keep on cruisin'...how else can remain so well informed on the Cruise Board!!!

Of, course you need the points! It's a moderator related job expense!;) And Judy is soooooo pleasant...it will be PAINLESS!

Good luck!

Renee:)

Yes, one has to eat....the difference is, a $3000 cruise comes with more food possibilities than you can possibly enjoy included in the price, whereas a trip home does not include food (albeit, you can buy food to prepare to save money, this is not money you would need to spend on the cruise).

And TnRobin...if you have a $3500 "habit" (going every year). clearly the points will be more economical over time. The question is, will you be able (or desire) to kick the habit :)

Yes, that's always how it starts.

You could take up gambling. Probably a less expensive addiction.

Since 35 points costs almost exactly $3000, why are you talking 40? tsk, tsk!

Good luck with your decision!

You wanna call Pete and see if he will pay for it. Of course I will be the only volunteer in history to be FIRED. :) :) :)

Actually that will give me almost 300 points. That should be enough to throw in a cruise every now and then. Where there is a will, there is a way - roughly translated - RATIONALIZE
