What is it with this and similar posts that I'm seeing all the time lately? "Name a state that doesn't contain the letter, 'E'. It's harder than you think." Or, "Name a movie that doesn't contain the letter, 'S'. It's not as easy as it seems".

Actually it's even easier than it seems. The weird thing is that these are sometimes posted by radio stations and the like, and they always get thousands of responses and "likes".

Am I missing something here, or is this type of thing as asinine as it seems?

California, Wyoming, Alabama, Alaska, Arizona, Arkansas, Colorado, Florida, Hawaii, Idaho, Illinois, Indiana, Ohio, Kansas.........See my point? I hate those posts with the burning passion of a thousand suns.

When I first started seeing them, I thought there was a trick behind it, which would've made it actually kind of clever. But it turns out that there is nothing clever about it, and unless you are seven, there's no challenge or entertainment factor at all in participating.

It's a marketing scam. A page is created, people then like it, comment on it etc and then the page is sold to someone else who now has all these likes and they rebrand the page to something completely different.

I never like/share etc these posts!

This. It's a way to scoop up an audience for whatever junk they want to sell you later. Had to have a talk with my teen who liked one and then started getting inappropriate content in his feed.

:thumbsup2 I always take a minute and think of about a million answers and wonder why they think it's hard. I guess they got my attention!

I had no idea about this! Very interesting and eye opening.

Having just recently had my Facebook account "hacked", I will never respond to any of those things again. I'm sure my "hacking" came from something like that.

I am Facebook friends with a lot of teens (friends of my kids, girls from Girl Scouts, etc.) and they always seem to like these stupid posts and then I get to see them. My cousin (who is a grown-up) liked one that was supposed to have videos on it, got a trojan, and started spamming everyone with it.

I thought it was because a lot of people are stupid and they find these challenging.

It's harder than I think? Not really. The majority of states don't have an E in their name.

It might be a hard question for someone that hasn't been outside of New England and slept through geography class. Maine, New Hampshire, Vermont, Connecticut, New York New Jersey, Massachusetts, And Rhode Island all have at least one e. And the nearby states of Pennsylvania and Delaware also have an e. But for the rest of us, it should be rather easy to find one. The majority of states don't have an E in them.

California, Hawaii, Alaska, Washington, Montana, Arizona, Oklahoma, South Dakota, North Dakota, Kansas, Iowa, North carolina, South Carolina, Florida, Mississippi, Alabama, Michigan, Indiana, Illinois, Idaho, Wyoming, Maryland, Virginia, Ohio, Arkansas, Missouri, Louisiana, Colorado, Utah.

I may have missed some but those 29 were just off the top of my head without any real effort.

How about the "videos" that tease the guys with hints of inappropriate content or scantily clad women...then when the guys click on them they spam the facebook world with their stupidity. It seems like I see the same men fall for this over and over...sigh.

I think they are a great way to warn me about people who are not too intelligent so that I can stay away from them.

Speaking of geography class ;) - New England consists of only six states; New Jersey and New York are not among them.

Like my post if you don't want to get into a horrible disfiguring accident on your way home. :goodvibes
