Today I logged onto Facebook and get "do you think xxxxx (me) is ugly?" Even funnier is that it was "asked" by one of the jocks in my high school class that wouldn't have acknowledged me for anything in high school but for some reason wanted to be my facebook friend.:rotfl:

Honestly, my high school classmates are going nuts on facebook. A bunch of 48 year olds using all the same apps my 15 year old and his friends are using and friending everyone they ever knew and their brother. (literally - my brother is getting friend requests from a lot of people on my friend list.) I don't get it, but it is sort of entertaining.:happytv:

Yep, I know what you mean. I got a friend request the other day from some guy who graduated 8 years after me. I come from a small community where most families have been there for generations, but I barely remembered his sister, who had graduated 5 years after me. However, I didn't know this guy at all. :confused3 Saw that he had over 1,500 "friends". I don't think he'll miss me if I ignore his request . . .:lmao:

I HATE that... I go to their pages and try to figure out how I know them and usually it's a kid who went to the same high school as me. I ignore the requests, too...

I agree disykat. It's particularly bad right now for people that are 28, 38, 48 since it's a big class reunion year. If I didn't know you or associate with some of these people for the past x8 years, why on Earth would I start now? It makes me chuckle as I click that Ignore key. :)

I usually accept them if they were in my class since I knew most of these people for many years in my small town growing up and might see them at a reunion. Then I put the ones I don't really know on hide. They only show up if they post something directly on my wall - usually from those silly question applications. It cracks me up when the friend requests come in though. Since I have only ever requested people I honestly want to reconnect with (I think I've requested a grand total of 4 people from high school?) it surprises me that so many people have the goal of being friends with everyone they've ever met. I'm don't do much on facebook so I'm not worried about information I'm putting out there.

I have friended some people that I went to HS with and it seems that I talk more with them now than I did in HS. I was very quiet in HS.

I wasn't into FB until I went back home for a work conference. I got together with a HS friend and she said alot of people from our HS were on it. So I started to get on more. I like getting to know all these people better than I knew them in HS. Most have changed so much - mellowed, etc. I wanted to go to the last reunion, but was unable to. I was able to see who all went from the FB page that was created for the reunion.

If I get requests from people that I don't recognize, even though they went to the same school, I ignore them, but if I recognize the name, I usually friend them.
