Does anyone make these?

I received one a while back for a holiday gift and I am going to attempt to make one (or more, hopefully) for some holiday gifts this year. They are really pretty and seem really simple to make. It's just 3" squares of fabric punched into a styrofoam ring to make a wreath.

I bought some fabric, a ring and some pinking shears last night and am working diligently on it right now while I watch the U of M football game (Go Blue!)

Anyway, I'm about 1/3 of the way done cutting 1 of 2 yards of 3 different kinds of fabric and my fingers are killing me!! I'm wondering if I'm gonna get through this. I wish there was an easier way to cut all these darned squares!

My neice made me a small tree like that one year, it is really cute. I would love a wreath. How large are the squares you are cutting? ( Just reread your post and I see they are 3" squares)

To make the cutting easier, you can get a rotary cutter, I know that some brands do make a pinking blade, and you can cut a few layers at a time.

I've made one before. They are so cute, but I agree that it takes a long time to cut all the squares!! I actually used a straw wreath. That's the only way I've seen them. I bet it will be much easier to punch into the styrofoam. Have fun! :goodvibes

I saw the rolling cutting systems...I didn't see a pinking blade though. Maybe they were just out of stock at the time. I'm done with 1/2 of the first yard. Time for a break...Starbucks Pumpkin Spice Latte here I come (it's the least I can do for myself, right?)

U haven't made one of those in years -
and I am thinking that is the reason why! lol

I've always made them with the straw rings. DH would have a fit if I were using styrofoam. He hates little bits of stuff like that...packing peanuts, Easter grass, etc.

One year I made quite a few of these for gifts - maybe 15 yrs ago? I did cut squares for a couple, but in the end just tore the fabric instead. I snipped the edge & then tore it the rest of the way. It was much easier to do that than cut them all. I did get thread & lint all over, but it was pretty isolated to me since I did the tearing while I was sitting around watching TV.

I made those many, many years ago as well. I remember cutting out all those squares and then punching them in the styrofoam! Looked good when they were done, though! :flower:

Anyone have a picture of these? I'm a girl scout leader and thinking we could make these.

I can take a pic of the one that I have....I have to see if I can get my usb cable to work though...I think it's shot...but, if I can get it to work and upload the pic to my computer, I will post it here for you to see.

For now, here is a link with a small pic and some instructions...not the greatest but you might get the idea

I'm finished!!!!

Just finished my wreath. I got up early this morning and when my boyfriend went to the casino, yes, at 8am....I got up and started cutting the last yard of fabric. It went pretty quickly and then I started punching. I had a baptism to go to this afternoon but picked up at about 5 when I got home and just finished a little while ago. It looks so good!! I'm very happy with it and I only used about 1/2 the fabric that I cut so I can make another one without doing anymore squares!!

I just ordered a new USB cable off of ebay so as soon as I get that, I'll post pics of the wreaths for anyone that would like to see them
