F&W Party of the Senses - Experienced it!

Thanks so much for writing! We leave tomorrow and are going this Saturday and I Can't wait! I'm so glad the glasses say 10th f&w. In 2002 and 2003 they had glasses with the year on them, but last year it was just engraved f&w, - no year. We were disappointed we couldn't add to our "yearly" collection - of course we also went the last weekend last year, so maybe they had run out? Anyway, for those going this year, historically, we have also been able to get the wristbands from about 3:30 on near the America Pavillion. It works out great because we usually skip the concert, but get our wristband before heading back to the hotel to change. Then we wander over from the BWV to arrive around 6:15, with our wristband already on.
For those going this year - look for us! We're in matching Mickey outfits - me a sundress and DH in a related design shirt. He can't stand that people call us "cute"LOL! :rotfl:

Thank you so much Taxman for taking the time to type out all of the offerings. We are going on 10/15 and I cannot wait! :flower: :flower:

Thanks for all the great reports...we're going on the 22nd and 29th...been going since the Odyssey days also. This is always our favorite Disney event. We usually don't rush for a table...the time goes by really fast and there's so much to enjoy.

A challenge is getting the wine glasses home safely...we had Disney ship them home for us (along with other items we picked up like large steins given out as favors at the SA brewers dinner last year)...no way would this stuff fit in our luggage.

No need AT ALL to rush there. Plenty of room and food for all!

I must respectfully disagree with the few who have suggested getting there early so as to get the "seats" you want. There is plenty of room for all and the idea is to roam around a bit which imho is a lot more fun. Everyone is really nice and you meet some really interseting people that way. We never had any problem "parking" anywhere to rest a while.

I guess some people just can't stop "rushing" long enough to stop and smell the roses even for just an hour or two? :sad2:

1) To the person who asked about kids-my daughter is 14-she has been to
the last 5 PFTS-there are afew kids but not alot-because there is no
children's price. They pay the same as the adults.

2) I think it depends on which week you go to PFTS-I agree it is nice to
meet people, but also nice to sit down. The first hour or so people do
hog the tables abit-especially if they are new to the event

3) We will be there Nov 5-anyone else :earsboy:

So two "hogs" makes a right?

or

"Hog and hog alike"?

Great report. Maybe a stupid question but how warm is it in the pavillon? I am planning on wear a sleeveless top will I need a sweater?

For a first-timer, it seemed advantageous for DH and I to walk into the room at the curtain drop, hence arriving early. I did not feel rushed at all at any time. I sat with several strangers/new friends throughout the evening. Had I entered later, I may have gained your perspective about roaming around. I was quite happy to have a table and a new friend to pick up food with for the others. With about three hours to eat and drink, there was plenty of time to enjoy everything I wanted. Again, I never felt rushed. It was simply exciting as a first-timer to feel like I did alright, by making the most of my time.

I guess sometimes some people rush to be judgmental rather than to take to time to understand.

PotS was kind of like the scene in Willy Wonka where they enter the candy/chocolate river room. I was in awe. It was something unique. I had no idea what to expect. What I did anticipate (thanks to other DIS posters) was not exactly what happened. The room was larger. The food was better. The evening lasted. There were more seats. I really enjoyed arriving early because I had the chance to read the "menu." Thank you to the DISer who posted the menu. Note it will change with every party, I was told. Please take my advice if you like, as well as others', in order to make your party the best it can be. Happy eating!

Sorry, I'll be rushing in. Personally I don't care, but my mom needs a chair.

mrslane-Thanks so much for your great review :sunny: I'm glad you had such a great time. I am going to my first party on the 22nd :cool1:
It is so helpful to read about other people's experiences, you have made me even more excited to be going :goodvibes

I think it's great we have choices, whether it's to get there early and get a seat, or go to a park for extra magic hours etc.Sometimes the same thing that makes one family's vacation special would ruin anothers.

Thanks again.

Yeah, my parents are going to need a table to sit at. We're not going to be running in there like banshees (they can't do that), but there's no way they could walk around all evening and be comfortable. Not to mention that my dad can be really picky about his eating environment. That's why I asked about how loud it was. I'm trying to stave off any foul moods. And his pickiness stems entirely from wanting everything to be perfect for my mom and I, so I can't fault him too much. His intentions are good :)

We'll be there on Nov. 5 :Pinkbounc
