So has anyone with food allergies done the F&W events?

Do the marketplaces have the ingredient books like the CS places? And if so, was it a problem getting it or did it take a long time? Did they allow you to just step to the side and look at it and then when ready place your order? Or did you have to go to back of line?

And overall was it worthwhile? Were there many items you could still try or was it very limited?

I'm guessing that most desserts will be out as is the case for nut allergies. But what about the other items?

I'm allergic to tree nuts, peanuts, scallops, and coconut.

I've been to the F&W festival many times. IIR they actually have a little icon for things that contain nuts. Scallops are pretty easy to stay away from, coconut it the hard one. I've found that when in doubt I've asked and within minutes someone has had the answer.

I've never been to F&W before so I'm not sure how the booths are setup. What about cross-contamination?

Most of the food is made elsewhere and brought out to the booths. Except for soup most items are already individually packaged. They seem to use the safety standards at the booths as they do in the restaurants--and they are pretty good about keeping things apart from other things.

Thank you so much!

Now I can look at the booth menus and figure out what I might want to try.

Please let us know how you make out during F & W with food allergies. My DD8 is allergic to peanuts and tree nuts and we often travel to WDW during F & W. In the past, I've simply avoided the food booths figuring that they wouldn't be as meticulously labeled and handled as regular Disney food. But previous posters have given me hope! I'd be interested to know how your trip turns out.

Thanks!

Well I contacted Brenda Bennett from WDW who deals with the food allergies and below is her response about the F&W Festival

As far as the Food & Wine Festival, I usually recommend our guests with allergies to keep clear. This is because of the small work area the chefs have to prepare food, the chance for cross contact is too great. We feel that your safety is number one and would not want to take a chance. The easier choices would be to go to the restaurants. The chefs in the Kiosk will be more than willing to go over the ingredients with you, but there could be no deviation in the menu.
